I'm far too excited about Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania

I should see whether the big accessibility update made permadeath optional. I managed to make it to 2bc by the skin of my teeth and promptly plateaued there, and while it feels appropriately hard it also gets to be a drag to keep going through the same optimal paths through the early levels for a chance to get killed by the new stuff they add.

The itch.io store is doing another Creator Day today - taking no cut from developers

Alchemist [External Link] is on sale for $3, & has both a native Linux build and a generous demo (I think purchasing mostly gives you the option to have the devil rescue you more than three times). True to the name it's a gathering-brewing low fantasy roguelike with you as Johann Faust.

Survival city-building game Synergy certainly looks different

Seems like everyone in games wants to be Moebius these days... well, I'm not complaining!

Quoting: Geppeto35Sounds fun, especially the last part of the video when it seems to become a bit more challenging.
Can you play with multiple players? Does it have combos like more power, more something if you perform complex stunts?
No multiplayer, there's no way for that to work with bullet time. Combo is only for scoring here I think, and you maintain it by killing and grabbing the five tokens scattered around each arena. Tricks feed your score and refill your ammo, with bonuses to both for complexity and variety. Perfect dodges, super reflex (entering bullet time right after a perfect dodge for bonus damage), and at least one weapon-based damage multiplier add more to the timing & situational awareness aspect.

Can confirm it is extremely fun.

I thought Barkhan was going to be a game about dogs leading armies across the Eurasian steppe but I see it's a Dune RTS with the serial numbers filed off (to the point of naming the factions "Clan of Trickery" etc).

I kinda liked my version...

Quoting: sternschnupfenShame that I cant play because Microsoft wants me to give them a phone number for "security purposes". Not even MY phone number they say I only need one to login, it can be any. And "of course" it will not be saved into my account. This data hoarding needs to stop.
yeah, this was really scummy -- I went through the MS account migration when it happened and even added a hardware key in anticipation of the 2fa requirement I'd been hearing about, but when I tried to log in a day later it locked me out and demanded a phone number. I still haven't bothered.

For some reason the Linux native build isn't playing sound at all for me :/ I might try Proton later.

rubeki's Hatch [External Link] is an earlier iteration on the idea and was in one of the earlier itch megabundles, so if you bought that give it a spin too!

Quoting: scaineThis looks really, really like Islanders [External Link] - which is a good thing. Think I actually prefer this approach, where the tiles dictate placement, instead of trying to position stuff to pixel-perfect precision for maximum effect.
A little bit that, a little more Carcassonne (the board game). I liked Islanders well enough but Dorfromantik and Slipways are the chill placement strategy games I keep going back to.

Did I miss something here?
Cannons were developed at the earliest in 11th or 12th century (CE) China before making their way over to Europe, by which time Roma was thoroughly victa.
