That's a bit disappointing but I guess this one is on Feral, it sounds like they had some internal trouble.

IndieGameStand blog post on Steam key reselling, plus my thoughts

Oh wait, no, they are. In far bigger relative volume than paypal or generic credit cards are.
This is just conveniently moving the responsibility for avoiding fraud off the seller. Convenient, sure, but it only helps the actual culprits of this even more.

Quoting: psyminQuick fix: Only accept Bitcoin ;)Because Bitcoins aren't massively used for fraud, money laundering, and literally collecting ransom, right?

"The problem with these sites like G2A, Fast2Play, Pingwin, etc. is that they have created an ecosystem for hackers, scammers, identity thefts and other internet assholes to steal from indie developers and other small websites."
They don't, really?
They buy the key from a seller like "IndieGameStand" with stolen money, and then sell it to end customer for cheaper. The indie store gets their money all the same, the developer gets their money all the same. It's not "theft" of the game, it's dirty (stolen) money laundering.
Of course, situation is different when the fraudulent transaction gets discovered by the bank/whoever the money was stolen from, and charges for the money back, but that's not really special to stores like g2a.com, somebody can steal your credit card personally, buy games for their personal use, and you can ask for refund as well, it's all the same.
I am not saying this is okay or anything, but these people oversimplify things a lot.

This XCOM 2 video shows Linux and Windows very close in performance
18 Feb 2016 at 12:58 pm UTC
I don't have time to test it, can anybody here?
18 Feb 2016 at 12:58 pm UTC
Through the development of this video, I obtained results I didn't think I would. I went into this expecting the usual 20% upwards to 50% loss of performance with the Linux title versus the base Windows title. So apparently, the game runs significantly better on 358 driver than the 361 driver?
At first, the 361 driver on Linux gave me those kinds of results. Then I tested the 358 drivers, and it's a world of difference! To note, this same driver on Windows makes no difference. I have a feeling we've lost performance on the Linux driver due to the recent addition of GLVND.
I don't have time to test it, can anybody here?
Nvidia release Linux beta driver with Vulkan
16 Feb 2016 at 11:17 pm UTC
Long story short, yes, you have to downgrade your driver to get Vulkan support right now,and considering there's only one single application on Linux capable of utilizing it outside of the SDK, unless you really feel the need to be among the first to test Talos principle, or (actually nevermind, Talos principle beta only runs on Windows for now. There's currently ZERO Vulkan capable Linux apps outside of the samples and the SDK) unless you are a developer who's about to leap into Vulkan development themselves, just wait till Vulkan makes it up into the main branch, you aren't missing out for now.

Quoting: neowiz73It's very simple. They forked the driver at 355 and implemented Vulkan in the splintered fork, probably beginning with that months ago. Then, 358 and 361 happened independently on that, but they haven't yet bothered with porting the changes over to the new versions of the driver.Quoting: Peciskthe thing is we have versions 355, 358 and 361 available in beta forms as well. so the questions still remains is it just the 355 or will the other newer versions receive the update? I'd assume yes... but I've learned to never assume anything because it's not always the case.Quoting: leillo1975I ser that the Vulkan beta driver is 355.00. I have installed in my system 361.28. Are my driver Vulkan ready or only the driver 355 are capable? You have to install Vulkan beta driver 355.00. It seems Vulkan API Is just added to older version of driver as it is for testing. When it will be OKed by QA, they will add it to latest driver release.

Successfully got both driver and Vulkan SDK working and managed to compile some of the nVidia's examples [External Link] and they run quite nicely (even though I seemingly can't compile some of them).

XCOM 2 strategy game reviewed on Linux

I was apparently approximately among the first 1000 players who beat the game on Commander difficulty Ironman.
(At least counting only those who get Steam achievements).
It's an amazing game. I am looking towards them ironing out the kinks it has and I am also looking towards what amazing things will the modding community come up with.

Quoting: Renzatic GearYou know that when the bars fill there's still multiple weeks delay before you lose, and if you complete any one of the blacksite missions it drops back to bars again, right?Quoting: Shutup-FoolI feel so left out. My potato laptop can't handle XCOM 2 :(It might be time for you to buy a rutabaga, cuz XCOM2 is GRAND AWESOME GOOD FUN!
...shame I screwed up my first game by thinking I could ignore the Avatar Project to build more cool stuff. By the time I got around to taking it on, it was just three bars away from completion. I might've kicked some ass during the Blacksite missions, but there was no way I could fly around the world to keep up.
