Planet Stronghold 2 brings more RPG & Visual Novel blending, will support Linux again

I played the first one a while back, and while mostly the VN and RPG stuff meshed pretty well and it was fun to play, there was a story element toward the end that really soured things for me.

Spoiler, click me
In particular, while the other romances ended up pretty steamy, the only F/F romance route ended without even a kiss. Just a "we'll see once you beat the final mission" and no real follow-up after that. Total buzzkill for me, and my heart wasn't really in finishing after that, although I did.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleHow about the entire Spiderweb Software back catalogue?
Oh god yes, and he'd only have to do it once because they all pretty much run the same engine. He'd probably have it all done in an afternoon.

Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass has new screenshots and a much bigger world

Pity that Devolver was more interested in doing awkward skits at their press conference than showcasing actual games. They didn't even bother to show the trailer for SS4 despite having said they'd give more info beyond those screenshots.

I picked this up a couple days ago. It is really fun!

You have to be patient at the start as it doesn't give much info away. However, I thought it was very clever. The only puzzle I didn't like was the tombstones with eyes. The whole thing was very very cute, though.
The logic of the eye temple was hard to figure out, and the yellow component was pretty non-intuitive. Nothing really indicated that was possible and I just took it as background like the birds are. But the rest of it was brilliant.

Quoting: NanobangGood. I'm glad Steam has grown up and grown some huevos.
...by taking the most spineless position possible that avoids actually having to actually do anything.

Quoting: BeamboomSpeculative junk. Porn, shovelware, fraud attempts, hate mongering, racism, extremists political and religious agendas, and so forth.

And please note, This is content that I do not say should be BANNED - they just do not belong on the main street.
Well, some of the stuff you just mentioned is deservedly illegal in most of the civilized world, so it really should be banned. I don't think fraud attempts, hate mongering and racism need a legitimate platform, and neither does extremism of any sort. Porn (with consenting adults) and shovelware are less of a problem IMHO.
That's part of what bugs me about Steam's announcement on this. They seem to be treating the hate mongering and racism, which we already know is on Steam and will increase following this policy change, as merely a disagreement between people with differeing tastes. Which seems at best hopefully naive, but more likely an attempt by Steam to avoid criticism by taking no position at all and pretending there's no issue in the first place.

But of course, not taking a position actually is taking the position that "this is all fine by us". Even with the thinnest possible disclaimer of "we aren't saying we agree with the content".

So I guess we're going to see more publishers like the guys who were making "Active Shooter", specializing in buggy, asset-flipped shovelware with names and basic concepts designed to attract outrage (for instance, one game was nominally about Tesla and had the name changed to include "White Power"). Steam kicked them off the service, but I guess it's a viable business model there now.

Quoting: Duke TakeshiI also came to the conclusion that it should be Hellblade. It seems a bit too obvious, though, but I can't find another way to connect the word "pandemonium" to a certain game. In Hellblade, Senua atually travels to the nordic hell (Helheim) to defeat Hela, which is kind of the nordic equivalent of Satan/Lucifer.
The nordic Hel doesn't really have much in common with Satan/Lucifer at all, much less the one that appears in Paradise Lost.

Also "Hela" is the Marvel Comics name for her. Traditionally her name is the same as the realm she's associated with, which isn't on fire and isn't meant for punishing people (she was appointed to her position, to provide lodging and accommodation for people who died in mundane circumstances like old age or sickness, as opposed to Glorious Battle™).

Mind you, how she's portrayed in video games does tend to fit the more familiar Christian pattern of someone evil who mistreats the dead and meddles in the world of the living.

Just to throw a new element into the mix, don't you think we're all being a bit literal when we're talking about games like DOOM, Agony, and Dark Souls?

Remember that the more common definition of "Pandemonium" in English is "wild and noisy disorder or confusion". So maybe the clue is pointing us at something noisy and chaotic, maybe neon-themed given that Lucifer himself was "The Light-Bringer".

Might be nothing, but food for thought.
