Quoting: "Bumadar, post: 5242, member: 93"lets hope beta keys does not include begging at Phoronix :)I did a summary of Valve comments on the most recent Linux blog post a week or so ago. One of the things mentioned was that emailing them or putting a comment on there requesting beta access was enough to get "on the list".

Rumour is that the Steam console thingy was a plan to create a set of hardware specs that vendors could use to create their own Steam compatible consoles, so what you're saying is inline with that. There's mention in the video that such a thing could sit atop Linux or Windows if it ever happened (I finally got the video working).

It's great to have the power of OpenGL highlighted like this :D

Quoting: "Ultimoore, post: 5208, member: 226"Well, the biggest thing I love about this is that they see tons of potential in OpenGL but have to get over certain hurdles first.I think that OpenGL has always had this potential. None of the OpenGL games I play or the OpenGL apps I use have any performance issues.

It was pointed out to me that John Carmack does talk about Doom 3 BFG edition and source releases in the Quakecon keynote. Here's a direct link to that part (the whole thing is 3.5 hours long :) ).
Unigine updates!

I was considering Unigine for a project I have on the go, but at the end of the day, their licences are a bit much for my budget.

Quoting: "Hamish, post: 5140, member: 6"It seems to mostly be that the development tools are harder to understand and use than for some other engines.Yeah, this is the impression that I get (or maybe more that the tools aren't quite as mature as say, the UDK or Unity stuff is).
