Game save data backup tool Ludusavi v0.28 brings new features

Someone in the SDH discord mentioned they were working on a Decky plugin for ludasavi. If and when they PR it to the plugin database I'm definitely going to give it a whirl. The concept of the base program is awesome on it's own, and being able to easily use it on my deck sounds even better.

Science fantasy roguelike epic Caves of Qud releases December 5

Congratulations to Freehold and another great piece of publishing/support work by Kitfox. I played Qud for the first time back in 2021 if I remember rightly and got several hours in. The game is endlessly intriguing and the stories it brings to the player fascinate. I only wish I had the time and energy for a game such as Qud or Dwarf Fortress anymore...

Quoting: Purple Library GuyIt looks like features are starting to creep in that, if I understand correctly, use Wayland to do things you couldn't do in X. Like, can X do per-monitor brightness?
No I don't believe X can control per monitor brightness. Glad to see KDE going all in on Wayland.

Quoting: CybolicI recommend people wait on this one. My Deck is currently stuck in a 2-5 second boot-loop after upgrading Decky Loader to version 3.0. It has never been stuck in a boot-loop before.
None of our testers encountered this error. If you can collect your logs and submit them in an issue we'll do our best to resolve the issue if we can replicate it ourselves.
I'm afraid I already wiped the Decky Loader install and reinstalled it, which now works (note to others: hold down Ctrl+Alt+; during boot to enter Desktop Mode). I did plan on submitting the logs, but the desktop was excruciatingly slow to use and I couldn't find the logs, so I settled for wiping Decky Loader instead.
My suspicion is that one of the plugins I had installed was causing this, so I'll recommend uninstalling them all before doing the upgrade.
For anyone else looking for a less destructive solution, a user in our discord stated that simply powering off and on their deck via holding the power button resolved the issue for them and have not encountered the issue after.

Certain Steam Deck plugins via Decky Loader are causing bootloops

Quoting: nnohonsjnhtsylay@TrainDoc why does deckyloader inject into the embedded chromium instance rather than using the official gamescope overlay method with the xatom GAMESCOPE_EXTERNAL_OVERLAY?
Not a design decision I was involved in. By using CEF we can utilize Valve's existing UI elements and integrate with that UI rather than having to come up with UI/UX of our own from scratch.

Thanks for getting the word out Liam! I've been busy with work and life stuff so stuff has gotten mixed up. To those wondering, we're currently working on an MOTD feature to allow us to better notify users of issues with plugins and we're working on delisting broken plugins.
As of the most recent pre-release of Decky, v3.0.0-pre7, we now have a screen and logic that catches these loops and stops decky and should allow you to find and remove any of the effected plugins. We also have future plans to ensure plugins are easier to report as broken but we don't have anything concrete in that regard yet. Have a lovely week everyone.

Old School Rally now Steam Deck Verified with an impressive roadmap ahead

Quoting: pbGood for them, but wake me up when it's done. So many games never lived up to the EA promises...
This game is already great on it's current features alone fwiw. Highly recommend trying it out even if you've been burned before. Even if all we get is the current feature set it was well worth the asking price.

The original SteamOS-like Linux distro HoloISO now dead, replaced with immutable version

Quoting: damarrinIt does? I'd say the backlash Ayaneo received from "Windows fans" explains the Ayaneo stuff. I'm sure an immutable system would have been more beneficial for them.
I'd argue the main reason that Ayaneo went back to Windows is due to the Chinese gaming market (their primary market) is windows dominated and are not really open to other options as I understand it. I have no qualifications to speak on the topic though so take all this with a grain of salt.
