The game is aesthetically very pleasing, but I just couldn't push myself to finish it. I guess I simply wasn't having fun. Couldn't say why exactly. On paper the game should be right up my alley.

What do you have against titmice [External Link]? They're cute little birdies, and they can't help it if you've got a dirty imagination.

Exclusives are just bad, no one wants them. They push platforms, sure, but they lock you into things.
How do you get locked in an OS that is free and open?
By having software that doesn't work on other operating systems. Windows can't stop you from switching to Linux. That doesn't mean Windows-exclusive software doesn't prevent some users from switching. That's a form of lock-in.

I agree with Liam. Exclusives do not fit well with the idea of an open software ecosystem, and they should't be used to push Linux. The end doesn't justify the means.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyYou have, like, SteamOS (or, better, Mint--heh) bundled with the new game. So then, when you go to install the game from Windows, the game installer defaults to installing SteamOS as a dual-boot and then installing the game on it. You can choose to install it differently, such as on Windows as a Windows game, but you have to make a positive choice to do that.
I know it's Linux we're talking about, but a game installer messing with my partitions and boot loader to install an operating system? Evil! Okay, maybe that's a strong word, but I really think the backlash would be worse than any positive effect.

Quoting: skinnyrafOr even less intrusive, yet efficient idea: Linux-exclusive early access :)
Well this sounds workable. I still wouldn't pay for alpha/beta access, but others would.

Even something silly like a Linux-exclusive playable character or loot might do the job and make gamers curious.

Wrong question it should of been when will they start making games again ?
They did announce several new games in the pipeline a couple of months back. Did you already forget?
oh you mean the card game thats not actually a game its just a card game
That and the (three?) other games they announced they have in the works. If my memory serves me, at least one was supposed to be a full blown single player game (I'm hoping it's Portal 3) and VR is likely to be a prominent feature. You'll have to pull out your favourite search engine if you want more details, sorry.

The Steam Linux market share for June was 0.52% as Steam is still growing rather rapidly

Quoting: Purple Library GuySo why the hell aren't they fixing it up? Same goes for a place like Iran--educated population, plenty good reasons not to be dependent on US software, source is open, what's the problem?
In short, I understand that Linux is in many places not that polished for the desktop, but why not?!
Good old chicken and egg. Their community isn't big enough to ease the way for a local community to form. It takes the blood and sweat of enthusiastic hobbyists to get things to the point where the larger public might feel comfortable joining in. Often these hobbyists might be university students with time on their hands, but that requires a cultural, political and social atmosphere that is not downright hostile.

EDIT: This isn't about Iran specifically. I actually saw a small but healthy Farsi localization community years ago, back when I was active in the i18n efforts of a few FOSS projects. The Middle East has changed a lot since then of course.

Quoting: Sudo_halttrash calendar support (dont even get me started)
Well now I'm curious.
I assume he means that support for the persian calendar used in Iran and Afganistan is lacking under Linux. I see a couple of dedicated calendar applications like Gahshomar [External Link] but I wouldn't know how well they integrate into the OS. I also see a Thunderbird persian calendar plugin and apparently Google calendar has support as well. But again, no first-hand experience.

Quoting: slaapliedjeIt'd be nice if there were more games that 'you bought this in Steam, here's your copy in GOG' out there. Seems they did a few, then never really added more.
They usually have some games in GOG Connect [External Link] during sales, but only temporarily. There's usually a banner on the shop front page when that's the case, but I think they just want you to keep checking.

Looks surprisingly fun! Waiting to hear a bit more about how the RPG side of the game works. Hopefully it's not just about leveling up your players, but there's some progression to keep it interesting.
