Valve announce a new game that's not Half-Life 3, introducing 'Artifact', a card game

Portal 3 is the one I'd most want to see, although HL3 would be nice as well. None of their multiplayer or free to play stuff interests me in the slightest, but I get that these bring in the big money for relatively little investment.

Stardew Valley to get multiplayer beta by the end of the year

I've played quite a bit of this game with my wife, though less now that there's seemingly no major story content left for us to see. We've often talked about how nice it would be if one of us could take care of the farm while the other goes spelunking or something. That would make a lot of sense. But we would also want to play locally in split screen, and that doesn't seem to be in the plans...

All in all doesn't seem like this'll provide a reason for us to continue the game. We need to find something else to play together. Maybe Slime Rancher for more semi-casual farming? :)

OpenGL 4.6 officially released, new beta NVIDIA driver with support for it

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoI have a doubt.
If a game use OpenGL 4.5 and the Specs list of the GPU (GTx 750ti, for example) said OpenGL 4.4 , will the game run anyway or will have performance issues?

For example, in Windows, DX11 games can not run on an old DX10 card.
There are two explanations for that 4.4 in the spec: Either NVIDIA doesn't update the spec every time a new OpenGL version is released (very likely), or the driver might emulate some features in software for the oldest hardware, but it's hard to say how much this would affect performance in the real world. According to NVIDIA's announcement [External Link] seemingly all of their desktop chips from the 400 series onwards get OpenGL 4.6 support, so I think you're safe.

The action sequences haven't really aged poorly. They were simply never very good.

Anyway, thanks for this excellent article about an excellent game.

Quoting: KuduzkehpanI'd argue there is no operating system that is any better.

Both sentences are same and false.
No, they are not. Operating systems are not the same as the idealistic systems you attach to them. You live in a monochrome fairytale world of absolutes.

Quoting: KuduzkehpanGnu/linux and its ecosystem are opposite of windows and its ecosystem.
Another overstatement. They're hardly opposites. Very different though.

Quoting: KuduzkehpanAlso communism and its ecosystem are opposite of capitalism and its ecosystem.
This doesn't prove that one is perfect and one is as as far from it as possible. The most prosperous (and I mean prosperous as in most stable and least unhappy) nations today seem to be ones practicing something between these extremes. In fact no nation has ever implemented pure communism or pure capitalism thus far, and I imagine it would be impossible to do so.

Quoting: KuduzkehpanAnd yes there is a good world we can create where privacy humanity and freedom(not freedom of 'you can buy any rights as you can afford) exist.
I believe we should strive to achieve something better as well, and be vocal about the injustices we see affecting not only us, but anyone and everyone.

Quoting: KuduzkehpanAnd thus who dont understands economics i recommend to read Das Capital (Karl Heinrich MARX)
Marx was a dreamer and an idealist. An intelligent and well read one, but a dreamer no less. But so were the fathers of capitalism and the free markets. I agree that an ideal society takes care of its every member and happiness should be the only measure of success, not something based on wealth. Communism doesn't solve that problem. It's an economic model that fails at the human scale, just like any other in existence today.

Can we get back on topic now? If you want to talk politics, we should probably take it to the forums. Personally I'm already bored with the subject.

it's perfectly possible for open source software to succeed under capitalism; as you say, we know this because plenty of it does.
OSS cant be monopoly. it may be tool for monopoly.
Just in case you've misunderstood, monopolies are not desirable in capitalistic economies. Sure, one of the big problems of the system is it depends on competition to keep the market healthy, while every one of these competitors strive to beat their competition, in effect striving to attain a monopoly of their market.

The system obviously doesn't benefit the society itself -- meaning the people the society consists of -- without strict rules and state oversight, because it is not in the financial interest of uncaring companies to be satisfied with balance and stability. It's all about unlimited growth, which is just as absurd as it sounds.

I'd argue there's no economic system currently around that's any better though, because all of them tend to be based on flawed, simplistic models of societies where the human element and other critical factors are almost completely ignored. This goes for capitalism as well.

Quoting: calfrettuubi, with all due respect you are way off base here. To clarify, you are absolutely correct. Now throw all that logic out and insert the human factor. We are talking about market share here, and billions of users don't care about fair comparisons or specifics. They only care about one thing: does this object do what I want it to do?
Hey, you're the one forgetting the human factor. Namely the fact that we're not a homogeneous group with the same values, priorities and preferences. For me personally market share is secondary. I just want as many people, communities and businesses as possible to discover the joys of using a sane, secure operating system and taking control of their computers. Oh and games are fun too I guess.

Oh, of course a large market share would bring a lot of AAA games and software to our platform. I get why some of you/us are not quite as happy with Linux as I am, but hey, human factor and all that.

Quoting: KuduzkehpanAnd if communism evil so the ideas of it too as linux.
Seems like people on both sides of the fence keep mixing up communism and socialism, capitalism and democracy, and propagate the delusion that any of this is about good and evil. Linux is equally great for communists and capitalists alike. And for us who don't much care for either.

Quoting: De1m0sI know all that. But this is just one example. And i do live with it. But no matter why things don't run as they should; you can't sell that to the common user.
Therein lies the rub: There's no reason why Windows games should run perfectly on Linux. That's just unreasonable to expect and says nothing about how hard or easy Linux is for the common user. I do get that you're frustrated, but your blame is misplaced.
