Trackless & Code 7, two next-gen text adventures currently being crowdfunded

Quoting: Mountain ManSo what I'm seeing is that these aren't text adventures as much as they're fairly standard video games with an unconventional interface (at least by today's standards).
"Fairly standard video games"? Does that even mean anything?

Anyway, both games seem interesting and I'll most definitely be keeping my eye on them. Thanks for the heads up, Cheeseness.

Quoting: JahimselfI wonder how the game perform on linux, because if there is a big gap like on alien isolation it may almost impossible to hit the 40fps average on normal settings, even with a GTX1080 on 1080p... It seeems it is one of the worst port of the century on pc, so unless feral find a way to get better perf on linux, it might be very hard to run the game outside the minimum settings.
Huh? Even on my 970 I haven't had any issues with Alien Isolation, don't remember seeing anyone complain about it either.
A:I Performs fine on my 960 as well. I believe there was a performance bug with Pascal chips and early drivers. You should try again. Sure there's a gap, but nothing that dramatic.

'Sally Face', a rather intriguing & dark adventure game about a boy with a prosthetic face

Going for the Fran Bow vibe I see. Although this one seems to occupy a rung towards the creepy end of the ladder, and if the video is an indication, has slightly lower production values.

Mad Max released for Linux, port report and review available

Being Steam-only is most likely as much of a business decision as it is a technical one. The convenience and cost of maintaining a single release vs multiple etc. Can't say if it's good business, but it sure would be nice to have their games on GOG for the steam-intolerant among us. GOGgies need their Linux AAA fix as well.

'Duke Grabowski, Mighty Swashbuckler', a great looking point-and-click adventure is now on Linux

Quoting: operaThis game reminds me of "Jack Keane". An older pirate adventure with similar visuals.
Also, Telltale games back when they were traditional point-and-click adventures. Could be good, we'll see.

Nice! Well done, Feral!

Hopefully some of the bugs and performance problems get sorted out before I get the chance (and find the change) to buy the game. Christmas, maybe?

'Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope' will support Linux as soon as possible

The problem of natural movement is hard to crack, and I personally can't see any real solution to this short of hypothetical Neuromancer-style direct brain interfaces. But it's all the lesser problems that make VR unappealing to me at this point. I'm sure it'll get there some day, but that's still a few years off.

Quoting: badberThere's also tons of crap on the Vive so I'm willing to bet this is still in at least something like the top 10% unless you really happen to dislike/have grown extremely bored of wave shooters.
I grew bored of rail/wave shooters in the first ten minutes of Operation Wolf on the C-64. :/ Since then they've all been basically the same, just a bit prettier.

Unity have released a preview of the Unity editor with the Vulkan API

It's still early days for Unity's Vulkan renderer. Little reason to expect better performance at this point. The Android implementation is the most likely focus anyway.

The Wine Development Release 1.9.21 Is Now Available

Quoting: Comandante oardoWinE devs must take the development process more seriously, specially the paid ones like Codewavers.
We are finishing 2016 and 64bit support is not oficially implemented yet and there aren't any signs if it will be..
Add the fact that DX10 and DX11 are very far away from here...
Clean-room reverse-engineering a complex set of closed API's is no walk in the park. If it was, we'd have perfect, free Windows clones coming out of the woodwork.

Also, what keeps Codeweavers going is making boring old business software and things like that work on Linux and Mac. If 64bit and DX11 would significantly boost their income, I'm sure they'd be scrambling to get it done. And even if games were a priority, it's only recently that some Windows games have gone exclusively 64bit.
