DRAG certainly seems like a promising upcoming racing game

Quoting: scaineI can't play the video right now... but did you use your G29 wheel, Liam? I can't wait to play this, and I'm curious if it's good enough that I splash the cash on a G29 myself... I'm not a HUGE racing fan, but honestly... this game. Just wow.
No wheel, they said that's planned for an update during Early Access. Logitech F310 works great though for now, only a demo after all.
The demo looked pretty and ran well for me, but the handling felt really weird. Unwieldy, not just unforgiving like Dirt Rally. Or maybe it is realistic and carts like this are just horrible to drive? I guess I'll keep my eye on reviews.

Quoting: GuppyFrom your post I guess you think it's racist, and your entitled to your opinion - I tried and failed to change it. But the developers clearly don't they just rolled over and took the easy way out, I don't really blame them considering the PR hell they would have likely encountered otherwise in the current political climate.
The developer didn't intend to offend, that seems clear. But if someone points out that you inadvertently did or said something offensive, like perpetuated a stereotype, there's no good reason to double down on the issue if you can simply make it right. Sometimes the easy way out is the best way out.

Quoting: tuubiJust like tomahawk-wielding, scalp-hunting, firewater-guzzling, feather-wearing savages in a modern game would be in bad taste, don't you agree? Or tiny buck-toothed yellow men with coolie hats if you prefer that particular outdated trope.
That's just the point this wasn't *anything* like that and people seeing the blow guns as joins might want to read up on freud.
The dev apparently disagrees with you, seeing as they changed the model. All this controversy and drama seems external.

Quoting: Guppybut it's getting clear this is not a issue we will ever agree on so there is very little point in continuing this discourse
I guess so. I mean I won't agree that people who complain about racial stereotypes are attention seeking outrage addicts, whereas people who get in a huff and complain about them get a pass.

Quoting: Liam DaweHopefully with multiple games going in development they won't have bitten off more than they can chew, especially as ENCODYA looks so promising.
ENCODYA seems to be doing fine. The game is completable and playtesting is under way. Of course there's still plenty to do and months to go before launch, but doesn't seem like there'll be too much overlap between the two projects.

Quoting: GuppyIn this case having characters that are black wearing masks with bold red lips is mocking black people.

I wonder what these paragons of virtue would think if they ever visited a museum or studied native african tribal masks;
These people didn't complain because they thought the characters looked similar to traditional masks. Their opinion was that these little joint-sporting dreadlock goblins promote a harmful stereotype. Just like tomahawk-wielding, scalp-hunting, firewater-guzzling, feather-wearing savages in a modern game would be in bad taste, don't you agree? Or tiny buck-toothed yellow men with coolie hats if you prefer that particular outdated trope.

In the end, the developer wasn't censored or forced to do anything. They chose to alter a character model a bit because they heard some complaints and didn't want to be jerks about it. Nothing of value was lost.

BTW, the style of traditional African masks can be used respectfully in games. I think The Journey Down got this right. And Shadow of the Tomb Raider didn't seem to anger too many indigenous Americans. It's all about the context.

They've also seen some controversy elsewhere. In the trailer at about 0:46, you can see characters chasing the protagonist wearing masks. Apparently this caused a stir as some claimed it was a racial stereotype. The team released a statement on Facebook to apologize and they will be adjusting that model to remove the dreadlocks, change their "bold lips", skin tone and change the dart blower "so it looks less like a joint".
What the actual... Are they going to go after the protagonist's winter coat next for being cultural appropriation?
"They" are such a scary bunch. Always going after things that are ever so important to people who never knew they cared.

You guys make such a big deal about a change that apparently makes some people happy and hurts nobody. The developer wasn't forced to change anything, but they did, and we lost nothing in the process. So what if some baddies look a bit different in the final game?

The console exclusivity thing is just poor communication on their part. The game looks great though.

Quoting: amataiHow does web monetization works?
Is it relevant in a world were game developers can monetize their games by selling them? Which is the best kind of monetization.
Games developers actually do not sell games. They license them. They sell a license for private use.
Many of them actually do still sell digital copies of their games. And remember, an EULA never overrides local law or consumer protections.
I am not talking about the EULA. The EULA is not the license, the EULA are the license terms of use. The "digital copy" comes with a license to use it. A license is what you actually buy to use every copyrighted material from others. You do not own the copyrighted material itself.
Nitpicking aside, owning a copy of a game and owning the copyright to the game are two different things. And thanks to consumer protections in many civilized markets, a copyright owner doesn't get to dictate the rules.

Quoting: Nanobang... and to be able to choose page 23 or 30 or what have you and jump right to where I might have left off would be a real boon.
I'd say just bookmark the page you're on, but whenever they add more stuff you might just have to start over regardless. Some of the games they've added so far didn't all end up at the end of the list. I think filtering by tags/type or maybe sorting by date would be helpful.
