Valve fixes up The Finals and No Man's Sky VR with Proton Experimental
21 Sep 2025 at 10:05 pm UTC

Well damn. They say they fixed it, but NMS still won't boot into VR mode. On Experimental and GE it just boots into regular, and on Hotfix and 10.0.2beta it attempts to open in VR then crashes.
This is on Nobara Linux, AMD CPU and GPU.

HORI Steam Controller releases in the USA in December
2 Dec 2024 at 3:06 pm UTC

I am INCREDIBLY excited that there's a 3rd party controller with extra buttons that make use of the steam configurator. I have wanted to do that for a long time with a diy controller, but haven't been able to figure it out. I can make a controller that advertises more buttons in its usb handshake, but steam never seems to see them. I really hope more documentation about how they did this becomes available.

VR game streaming tool ALVR adds PipeWire support on Linux

Now if only any of my games ran half decently on linux. Only reason I still have a windows partition is for VR. Even with all the right parts, an AMD graphics card and an HTC vive, the experience is glitchy and inconsistent everytime.

NVIDIA make it easier to get GeForce NOW on Steam Deck

Quoting: LinasSo if I want to stream a Steam game, would it cloud sync with Steam?
Yea when you launch a steam game it basically just spins up a virtual machine, launches steam and you have to log in to steam and then it's just like playing a steam game on someone else's computer.

Triple-i Initiative teased by devs of Vampire Survivors, Darkest Dungeon, Risk of Rain

Triple-I definitely refers to "higher budget indie games" as opposed to triple-A.
Interestingly the term III and Triple-I were just added to the Triple-A Wikipedia page a few months ago.

So I'm guessing it's a super-studio that will allow the various indie studios to collaborate on a bigger budget game while maintaining their individual indie-ness.

Palworld hits 7 million sales, smashes Counter-Strike 2's all-time peak and gets a roadmap

I've been having an absolute blast with it. Played it on my desktop and steamdeck and enjoyed both thoroughly.

I originally wasn't interested(I was never a Pokémon kid), but a guildmate hosted a private server so I hopped on with them and a few friends and it has been nothing but addictive fun. It's silly fun, but with good gameplay behind it.

People keep calling it a clone or an asset flip, but it has so many fantastic little QoL mechanics and little touches that it's obvious the devs have played games like these and/or listened to community feedback. Controller support is fantastic out of the box. Multiplayer for the most part works without any struggle. There's definitely early access problems. Models/locations with z-fighting, glitches and unexpected physics interactions, but nothing gamebreaking or that got in the way of my enjoyment.

I also think this game is probably much better with friends than single player. There's no real story and the world/npcs need to be fleshed out, so I could see playing solo being lonely. But with friends getting the joy of everyone discovering stuff and accomplishing things together really makes it fulfilling.

High On Life, The Outer Worlds, Journey To The Savage Planet and more in this bundle

I can't comment about the rest of them but JOURNEY TO THE SAVAGE PLANET is an absolute kick ass game, and plays great on the steam deck. I highly recommend.

Great gameplay and interesting first person shooter/puzzler with a silly story line with fantastic voice acting.

SurrounDead looks like a mix of DayZ and Project Zomboid

It seems like a low-poly version of 7 days to die. could be interesting. then again, I always burn out in 7dtd really quick as I can only hoard/build so long with no really storyline goal.
