NVIDIA release 550.90.07 stable and 555.52.04 Beta drivers for Linux

Before having the beta driver with explicit sync, playing without X11 on Nvidia was unthinkable. I tried Wayland for a while and every single game had some kind of flickering stuttering, multiple visual glitches.

Now I think they're finally going in the right direction. I've been using the beta driver for a while in Fedora 40. And I finally can say Nvidia has for once surprised me, as it works really good.

No more flickering. Looks like I'll be finally able to enjoy the painless Wayland + Nvidia experience a lot of people were already enjoying and made a lot of us look like we were simply mad. :)

It reminds me a bit of a mix between Terraria and Starbound.

Definitely looks cool, looks like a game I'd buy

Quoting: WoodlandorThe only logical explanation for this is that an army of Penguins boarded a warship to take to the mainland.
They successfully infiltrated Nvidia headquarters and are holding herrings to everyone’s throats.
Penguins ftw!

Sweet lord!

Just by watching the video below I was more jump-scared than playing some horror games.

I love the mix, Disney like but horror gameplay.

The drawing quality, the animation is top-notch. I can't wait to try it. It looks incredible!

Edit: Darn it Liam, now I'll have to sell everything I have. I need this freaking game, the music, the animation, the drawing quality, this game's gonna be massive. I've seen more things and I've fallen in love with it. Gonna buy it as soon as it's available.

Explicit GPU Synchronization for Xwayland now merged

Does this mean we should probably have no more ghosting, stuttering and massive visual issues on Nvidia? If that's right I might try gaming on Wayland again :D

KDE's Xaver Hugl on why Wayland explicit sync is such a big deal

I really hope so Liam. I really do. Almost every single problem I've had related to Linux has been somehow tied to Nvidia.

So I'm trying to keep hope on this one. There's still a huge amount of time until I can finally switch to AMD. So I'm limited to these kind of changes.

Thanks as always for keeping us updated with these articles!
