Quoting: whizseIf the game offers you the chance to settle down and raise a family, DO NOT name your daughter Clementine! It won't end well!
Dolores wouldn't be a good idea either.

Quoting: PhiladelphusI'm still looking for a game that has exactly what I want in a Pokémon-like on PC; Cassette Beasts, Tem-Tem, Coromon, Monster Sanctuary, none of them are quite there, but we're getting closer, and multiplayer like this is one of the things I'd like, so I'm happy to see this addition.
This isn't Pokémon like!

This is Pokémon: Cassette Edition!

Quoting: WYW
Quoting: ssj17vegetaI always wondered. What's in it for the end-user ? (Wayland)

I mean, I'm aware it has a much more modern architecture since Xorg codebase dates back to the 90s, but I heard it still had tons of problems with NVIDIA's proprietary GPU driver.

As a gamer myself, I wonder what could be the consequences of such a bold move.
I'm also a little worried about my Nvidia GPU in a world with no X11, but from what I've read newer Linux kernels 6.6.7+ and Nvidia driver 550+ fixes a lot of the Wayland issues. Over the next year or two things should only get better.

Then there is the new open source Nvidia Vulkan driver (that also does openGL) which is shaping up great and AFAIK it should work well with Wayland.
I really think the only counterpart on it is for the ones we have Nvidia. As I already mentioned on another post, to me the last stable driver was 535. After that, everything has been a nightmare on Wayland. There are a lot of people also posting on Nvidia forums. Nvidia devs are all the times saying there's a fix, but 545 and 550 have come with drawbacks, so I don't really see where are the fixes they're always talking about.

I can't stop to think whenever I get the money I'm leaving Nvidia. They're really slowing down Linux in terms of technology. Wayland is really cool, and I feel better using it knowing it's more polished and not predatory as how it's designed.

NVIDIA disclose new driver security issues - Feb 28
28 Feb 2024 at 10:52 pm UTC

Quoting: Xpandersecurity issues has been a thing for quite some time for many things. Usually developers get some time to prepare fixes ahead when those issues are discovered and before becoming public. So i dont really see much of a problem with that since all the drivers have been already updated with fixes.

what mess has nvidia made with drivers recently? the drivers have been working flawlessly for me quite some time... i think there where few game regressions with early 535 versions but updated ones fixed those and 545.xx and current 550.xx have been super solid also.
Relating the security part, I'm not blaming them with that. It's obvious that security is a huge part that can affect almost everything, not only Nvidia. I'm just pointing out that there seems to be some issue in almost everything they do with their drivers lately.

If you use x11 you shouldn't have faced any issue. The problem is with Wayland. I've been suffering them and there are a lot of people having too, you can check their forums on the Linux section.

Although 535 was still stable for me, some people already had some then. And they messed enough with them to make playing on Wayland impossible. They were really outdoing themselves for a while, I almost got some hope thinking playing on Wayland as an Nvidia user would be possible.

I'm really having a blast with this game, I've always been a fan of well made lore. I've tried other ARPGs but this one looks really special to me. Not only that but after the fact they finally fixed the characters screen on Linux, I feel really good about buying it.

The devs also look really focused on keeping a good game and they look passionate. Something a bit odd these days on the game industry.

Definitely a good game in my opinion.

NVIDIA disclose new driver security issues - Feb 28
28 Feb 2024 at 9:49 pm UTC

Beg your pardon everyone but... Dear god what is wrong with Nvidia? They've not only made a mess lately with all their drivers but now there are security issues too...

I want to change too hard my graphics card really, they're making everything a bloody hell. I'm sorry but I feel really, really frustrated. And I'm tired of how they treat all their entire public.

At least they're honest enough to make sure everyone knows about this mess.

Really, I can't stop to think about getting a job to kick all their messed products.

NVIDIA open source driver to use NVK + Zink for OpenGL on newer GPUs

I'm glad this is evolving at this rate. I'm tired of doing QA stuff for NVIDIA without choice nor getting paid.

Their proprietary drivers are getting worse with each new release, more bugs, more problems... I feel ashamed of not having payed for AMD instead.

I'd wish I could already use open-source drivers.
