Quoting: KandarihuI don't think that this is the right approach. As much as I want Linux to grow as a platform, this gives us an unfair advantage. The better choice will be to scrap/abolish such legislation entirely.I disagree. First off, Linux desktop market share is small enough that anything to give it an advantage is a good thing. And second, if this kind of legislation does end up favoring FOSS, then the answer is simple. Microsoft, Apple and all the other proprietary goons should just make all their stuff FOSS too. If the legislation is stacked against proprietary, then stop being proprietary.

The Attorney General of New York is not a hero, and does not get a free pass to do whatever she wants just because she opposes He Who Shall Not Be Named. Just because my country loves to make everything partisan does not mean I have to play along and clap to the song and dance of either party.
Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash

I used Lutris back in 2020 when I first switched to Linux because it was recommended, but I haven't used it since. I don't think it's very good, and I find Heroic to be much better for my GOG games.
Now, with that out of the way, I don't object to the Lutris developer using AI. I object to him trying to hide it rather than be upfront, and I also find him hypocritical. He criticizes Google, OpenAI and Meta...while using Anthropic's Claude. As far as I'm concerned, Anthropic is no better than any other "AI Company".

I didn't care for Bazaar at first, but it's fine now. I would still prefer Discover to maintain..."Konsistency", but Bazaar is fine.
I am glad to see Konsole replace Ptyxis though. Nothing "wrong" with Ptyxis, but again, I use Plasma+KDE and prefer to use Qt apps.

As someone who lives in the US, this is one of those issues that would be bipartisan. Make no mistake, I expect legislation like this to pop up in "red states" like Texas, Florida or Tennessee; if they haven't already.
New York sues Valve over "illegally promoting gambling" for loot boxes

I confess I like firearms and have accumulated more than a few of them over time. However, I can say with 100% certainty that loot boxes played no role in my appreciation for firearms.

KDE Linux gets performance improvements, new default apps and goes all-in on Flatpak

Sounds good to me. If they can come up with an easy way to get Steam going, without using the Flatpak, maybe I could make the switch to KDE Linux. It would be nice to have a "purer" KDE+Plasma experience than what Bazzite offers; hopefully less drama too.
Firefox will get AI controls to turn it all off

I'm sorry, this just sounds a little silly to me. People, myself included, wanted the option to turn the AI features off. Alright, that's what they're doing. Now you insist it's off by default. Let's say they did that too, would you just turn around and say, "Well, there shouldn't be any AI to begin with!"

Quoting: hardpenguinHow about you disable them by default, Mozilla, and have people unleash AI at their own peril -_-They're providing the controls to turn it off, or turn it back on. What does it matter whether AI is already enabled by default?
This is dumb. So dumb.
