The new Steam Controller from Valve is out now - some early thoughts
5 May 2026 at 8:48 am UTC

Somehow, I was able to get a purchase in within the first 30 minutes. Took a lot of tapping in the Steam app on my tablet. No clue when it will get here, but at least I'm getting one.

Bazzite Linux 44 lands for desktop gamers and it's a big release
30 Apr 2026 at 9:28 pm UTC

Whatever nitpicks I've had over the choice of applications, I've been using Bazzite since 2024 and have found it to be an excellent distribution. It was easy to set up, and has been very stable. An immutable distro is not for everyone, but for me it's ideal.

I am satisfied with my GameSir Tegenaria, but I will buy one. I love the Deck's controller layout, and that's what this is.

Proton Experimental brings fixes for classic Resident Evil 1 & 2, Dino Crisis 1 & 2 and more

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis works too; just tried all three classic RE titles. Not sure why it wasn't listed in the update.

Split View and Tab Notes sound nifty.

System76 fighting for open source being excluded from Colorado age checks

Quoting: KandarihuI don't think that this is the right approach. As much as I want Linux to grow as a platform, this gives us an unfair advantage. The better choice will be to scrap/abolish such legislation entirely.
I disagree. First off, Linux desktop market share is small enough that anything to give it an advantage is a good thing. And second, if this kind of legislation does end up favoring FOSS, then the answer is simple. Microsoft, Apple and all the other proprietary goons should just make all their stuff FOSS too. If the legislation is stacked against proprietary, then stop being proprietary.

Valve posted a statement on the New York lootbox lawsuit

The Attorney General of New York is not a hero, and does not get a free pass to do whatever she wants just because she opposes He Who Shall Not Be Named. Just because my country loves to make everything partisan does not mean I have to play along and clap to the song and dance of either party.

Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash
15 Mar 2026 at 2:51 am UTC Likes: 3

I used Lutris back in 2020 when I first switched to Linux because it was recommended, but I haven't used it since. I don't think it's very good, and I find Heroic to be much better for my GOG games.

Now, with that out of the way, I don't object to the Lutris developer using AI. I object to him trying to hide it rather than be upfront, and I also find him hypocritical. He criticizes Google, OpenAI and Meta...while using Anthropic's Claude. As far as I'm concerned, Anthropic is no better than any other "AI Company".

Bazzite gets a big update with KDE Plasma 6.6, Mesa 26.0.1 and more

I didn't care for Bazaar at first, but it's fine now. I would still prefer Discover to maintain..."Konsistency", but Bazaar is fine.

I am glad to see Konsole replace Ptyxis though. Nothing "wrong" with Ptyxis, but again, I use Plasma+KDE and prefer to use Qt apps.

California law to require operating systems to check your age

As someone who lives in the US, this is one of those issues that would be bipartisan. Make no mistake, I expect legislation like this to pop up in "red states" like Texas, Florida or Tennessee; if they haven't already.
