As far as I know this extension isn't necessary for vkd3d due to differences between DX11 and DX12. For example Apex Legends has recently gained a DX12 mode which has not stuttered for me, at all.

Not verified but if Valve introduced another compatibility level like "optimized" which guarantees the developer is well aware of Steam Deck and QAs updates for it before releasing, mandatory Vulkan would be a good requirement.

IMO the game will clearly benefit from ZRAM swap or 32 GiB RAM instead of 16. What is the Deck's SSD random read speed?
Also I am guessing the game tells it is not for HDDs because the game assumes your system is capable of compiling shaders at a certain speed but Linux is nowhere near that speed (telling from experience) because VKD3D shader compilation goes through more steps.
