I inferred from the article that Google is really going to emulate Windows with virtual machine technologies instead of something like Wine.

Do the last two steps (opt in to beta and pass
-gamepadui to steam)
Thanks

Though my Firefox doesn't want to load this as they don't support TLS 1.2. :-/
The TLS stuff is weird as I can access it fine with FireDragon (a Librewolf fork)
This is how you should opt in to beta:

echo "steampal_stable_9a24a2bf68596b860cb6710d9ea307a76c29a04d" > ~/.steam/steam/package/beta

Quoting: Mountain Man1% is in line with historical averages for Linux. I was hoping it would move higher now that gaming is more accessible than ever on Linux, but I guess that's never going to happen. Too many people think they have to use Windows.
We are decreasing probably because of an incerase in Chinese users.
Look at the last graph on GOL Steam Tracker

Heroic Games Launcher now works nicely on Steam Deck

Quoting: icedfiendGood point, I didn't know you couldn't install system packages... Looking back at an article on how the update lifecycle works makes sense (installing a full OS image to an alternative partition and switching the active one), but it removes a lot of freedom to tinker with the OS...
You can enable FS modification with a single command (might be btrfs filesystem set-property ro false /) and install whatever you want. It is just your changes will be overwritten with next update.

@Liam I experienced some problems with EGS on Proton not right after installation but a few days later. The EGS window kept flashing (open-close-open) and I couldn’t use it. Can you still use it?

Quoting: elmapulyou need an comparision point... eg: test it on windows too.
i saw a lot of reports on protonDB from people who never played an particular game saying it run flawless on linux, then you open the game and... where are the cutscenes? where is the video behind the title screen?
If they didn’t notice something is wrong, then Proton did its job nicely
