The situation with the game data/assets is a bit complicated in this case. Parallax Software owns the copyright for the game, but Interplay owns the Descent trademark and have the right to publish and sell the game.
Presumably Interplay would be less than thrilled about the game data being made available free of charge. Re-releases and old titles seems to be their main source of revenue these days.
Info from here [External Link]. I presume the non-payment issue was resolved given that all Descent titles are back on GOG.

Interesting conversation here with icculus trying to figure out if he can release the source for the modern Linux port:
"Okay, I'll email Hervé later today and see if he'll let me release my changes. It couldn't hurt to ask, right?"
From https://github.com/kevinbentley/Descent3/issues/9 [External Link]
Fingers crossed 🤞

Quoting: GuestI think those are game engine remasters, while this one is the actual game. I could be mistaken though. They are based on the original source code release (not FLOSS sadly):

Quoting: PenglingSee also, "twunt", which Spider also picked up from me and seemed most amused by.Oh dear, a bit more on the vulgar side that one, but I'll stick it in the old vocab for later use!

Actually two of the best point and clickers I've played recently have been of the horror variety, The Excavation of Hobbs Barrow [External Link] and Nightmare Frames [External Link].
Haven't had time to try this one yet, but brownie points to the devs for making a demo. Actually a double serving as they seem to have demos for most (all?) of their games!

Quoting: Luke_NukemAnd fuck the "boomer <genre>" term.As an alternative I have been workshoping the term greatest generation [External Link] racer. It polls very well with early gen-x who are a bit too close to boomer for their own comfort!

KDE Plasma 6.1 will be able to sync keyboard RGB to your chosen accent colour

Support seems to be limited to "RGB capable LED devices in /sys/class/leds/; [...] provided it has .../multi_intensity" which I guess rules out anything needing OpenRGB to function?
