Here's how to run Diablo 4 on Steam Deck

Quoting: TheRiddickDon't be surprised if Blizzard starts banning Linux/SD users...
They really don't like any work arounds what so ever with their games.
They'll of cause probably wait until final release to start pissing people off with bans.

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLAnyone know how to fix 1-5 FPS with Vulkan API? OpenGL show normal FPS but causing graphics issues (invisible characters) while forcing Vulkan fixes it but gives 1-5 FPS.
RX 580 8GB, latest mesa 23.0.0
Stuck compiling shaders?

Or possibly picking up llvmpipe/lavapipe instead of your GPU?

Quoting: 14Is it even possible to make graphics cards support newer stuff better? Like flashing the firmware? Is that something we could rally for? It's kind of the same situation with cell phones. You can get an iPhone that physically works a lot longer than bug fix support lasts. E-waste FTW.
Hardware documentation and FLOSS drivers is the key. We have better support for old stuff in Mesa compared with out Windows counterparts. (AMD already discontinued support for GCN3 and below on Windows).

FLOSS firmware would certainly be nice, but I doubt it would help at all with Vulkan. At least for TeraScale/pre-GCN AMD GPUs. The hardware is simply too old.

Quoting: elmapulaccording to vg charts:
ps1 has 2706 games.
ps2 has 3565 games
ps3 has 1904 games.
if you pick the ps3 model wich had backward compatibility, then the full catalog of PS3 at the end of the generation was 8175 titles.
Keep in mind that many games are counted twice, or sometimes three times as it was re-released for different markets (US, PAL, Japan) so the actual numbers are quite a bit smaller!

Quoting: LoftyPlease tell me that the Polaris generation is still supported under FOSS MESA drivers.
Depends on what you mean by supported. radv wasn't written by or maintained by AMD...

Apparently the game defaults to different graphics levels depending on the renderer. The default for Vulkan is higher which might explain why some are having performance problems.

Wayland driver for Wine is getting closer

Quoting: drjomsYou can have both, X11 and Wayland on same machine.
Even run Wayland in X11 too, with Meson! (gamescope too, but it's not a general purpose thing).

Quoting: whizseNo hardware changes, but I did switch from 144Hz to 60Hz. Why? Turns out just idling at 144Hz causes the GPU never to enter the lowest power state and using 17(!) more watts.

I should probably try out that VRR stuff.
What display? I had this issue with my previous LG display, but newer one works fine. You can also experiment setting custom modelines to work around it, but that's not possible in Wayland session in KDE.

There is a huge bug about it here: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/1403 [External Link]
Oh gosh, thank you so much! Adding a custom modeline fixed it!

I'm back down at a minimum power level at max refresh rate. I didn't even realise it was a bug, just stupidly assumed more Hz = more wasted power.

The monitor is a AOC CU34G2X for reference.
