I'm going to expose my silliness here but I'm assuming all the "physical" games are going to need to be printed.

*looks at his color laser printer in sympathy*

I mean, it would be amazing to have a huge delivery with boxes of games.

GNOME 49 released with new video player, document viewer, improved app store and disabled X11 session

@shadowofward I'm on CachyOS with KDE. My machine stats are in my profile if there's a question there.

I can play Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077 (no RT), and FF XIV with no issues and honestly, with a modern video card, you'll not notice the minor overhead from KDE or GNOME. I would honestly suggest trying *both* KDE and GNOME and see which is more to your liking. I feel like GNOME is more like macOS and KDE is a very customizable Windows.

Good luck with the transition! It will throw challenges at you but it will also make you much more proficient in how computers and operating systems work which are always good things to have in a skill set.

Linux use on Steam ends 2023 with a multi-year high (thanks Steam Deck)

Quoting: pleasereadthemanualObligatory "the Steam Deck still isn't sold in Australia/New Zealand two years on" comment. Even though I'm not going to buy it because I already own enough Linux machines.

On another note, I've been a Linux user for four years this month. On the one hand, I never thought I would stay, but now I can't imagine going back.
I don't know if I want to humble brag or not. I started in late 1994 with the Yggdrasil release with kernel 0.99pl13. X was a seperate download and compile which took a looooong time on that 486DX50 with 4mb of RAM.

I spent New Years Eve installing Gentoo on one machine and trying to kdesrc-build the lastest Plasma 6 beta on another. It got me to thinking how bloody far the Linux ecosystem has come since 1995.

Quoting: JRayLambI've got a couple of other games on my wishlist and maybe once I get to it, I'll pick this one up *if* I don't need the amdgpu-pro drivers for it.
They used to require the proprietary drivers for the older version of the game. It looks like the Steam page haven't been updated.

Their own webpage [External Link] have the correct information:
"We require the Mesa drivers, version 22.0 or newer, for AMD to run X-Plane."
Woohoo! Added to my wishlist. Here's hoping Father Yule brings me some cold hard cash!

The game looked great, right up to the point where I saw "Requires proprietary graphics drivers"

What the ... the kernel AMD drivers are better than the proprietary drivers, so why do I need those? Nvidia, yeah, you'll need them as nouveau isn't nouveau nor performant really.

Quoting: whizseMakes you wonder what will happen to all the unsold controllers? I guess they will end up in the same landfill as the ET cartridges...
Or maybe, just maybe, Google will wise up and unlock the Bluetooth capability of the controller and sell them off? Oh wait, that would make sense. #whatwasIthinking

VAXEE offer up some really great mice, thoughts on the VAXEE Outset AX
19 Dec 2021 at 6:26 am UTC Likes: 4

It's a very handy feature for those of us with neurological issues such as muscle spasms or repeated "bounces" when clicking. I had to toss a perfectly fine trackball mouse out as it was not possible to adjust the click pressure/latency enough for my hand.

Sometimes it's not always obvious why some options exist but there is usually a good reason.

(Most spelling errors are likely mine as my mind still thinks I can accurately type 75+ wpm but my multiple sclerosis knows otherwise!)

Quoting: plaidphantomI'm a bit confused as to why one would ever want to increase click latency...? Is it a ghosting/debounce feature?
