Arma 3 Is Officially Being Worked On For Linux By An External Team, Won’t Be Native
29 Apr 2015 at 9:23 pm UTC

Quoting: edoSo an windows unoptimized game will come to linux inside a wrapper than will make it to loose performance, to run on unoptimized graphic drivers on an OS where it was never optimized to run.
Looks interesting.
Well, maybe VP guys could kick in some offline optimizations, too :)
As long as it runs well, with no input lag, I'm fine with it. The price point may be a little too high for me, though.

Contagion, Source Engine Zombie FPS Will Still Come To Linux, Requires A Rewrite

Quoting: BOYSSSSS
Linux/Mac requires that we halt development to rewrite on an updated Engine
Source 2 ???
No, source SDK 2013 at least, IIRC. Of course, source 2 would work too, but I don't think the SDK is available yet (or am I mistaken ?)

GOL Survey Results: March

I personally like plasma 5. It's usable already, not much overhead to worry about on a gaming PC, and I also like the direction it is going.

About the Intel drivers issue, I think you should add a reminder that open source drivers are almost always the default ones. But it also gives us a hint about the percentage (12%) of wrong answers we may get.

I am looking forward to next month's survey, with a different sample from this one. This could yield to some interesting results.
Thank you for conducting this survey :)

P.S : Liam, could you give us some statistics on the crowd browsing gamingonlinux.com (statistics from, ie Google Analytics, with OS, Web browser, country, etc. This could be interesting as well. As for the country/continent, this could be an interesting question. We could then plot OSS/Proprietary drivers, and other specs, against the location).

Quoting: MayeulCWell, I tried again today, but Radeon Hangs on UE4 Demos. How did you manage to get UT4 Working ? Did it work out of the box ?
Older r600g versions will hang. I don't know about bleeding edge; haven't tried the very latest myself yet, but it could well be the same still.
Well, I am on arch with a 3.19.2 kernel and mesa 10.5.2. Not really bleeding edge, but recent enough to expect it not to crash my GPU :( (I use an HD 6870)
I hope it will be sorted out before UE4 games start kicking in for Linux.
Thank you for your answer.

Steam Hardware Survey For February 2015
9 Mar 2015 at 3:02 am UTC

Quoting: GuestSteam NEVER asked me for a survey on Linux, but when i launch Steam from my Windows partition... BAM! Hardware survey :D
Maybe i'm not the only one with this "problem".
Yep. same here, I get one every time I log in on someone else's computer, even though I got one on my netbook some months ago. Maybe it doesn't survey beta users ?

Lots Of Big Games Confirmed For SteamOS, Torchlight II Now Out, Payday 2, Mordor And More Coming Too
4 Mar 2015 at 8:33 pm UTC

OH MY GOD.
Totally hyped since I saw the store announcement. So much for my life.

Now if only my drivers would get better...

And I don't know if I should wait to buy shadow of Mordor. There will probably be another sale soon enough.

Quoting: scotsman9999Just as I feared would happen eventually, on the sale page the icon for Linux is no longer Tux but the generic circled Steam logo. Does "Linux" still scare devs that Valve has to cover it up with 'SteamOS' now? I do worry that eventually this will turn into another Android situation where we don't get much of a benefit.
Well, this got my hype down, but just a bit.
