Unreal Tournament Has Come A Long Way, New Beautiful Map Included
3 Mar 2015 at 6:17 pm UTC

Quoting: liamdaweApparently it will crash x if you run it with mesa, so don't even try unless you like to reboot. I can't verify this, but it comes from a trustworthy source.
Yep, I can confirm this. Currently, every UE4 demo crashes rhe radeon driver.
I have a 7870. Hopefully I will be able to play it on Vulkan soon :P

Vulkan Really Is The Official Name Of The Next Generation OpenGL Initiative

Quoting: fedsoThey did a lot more work than I expected! At page 8 of the slides there is a screenshot of the Vulkan debugger developed by Valve and LunarG with some API calls. I wonder how close the names are to Mantle API although at low level the actual calls are probably very similar to each other.
The Vulkan working group is also interesting, it seems all relevant industry and more is onboard. Just discovered that Continental is also in the working group... they must be using graphics API for tires tassellation... (...stupid joke, I couldn't resist, sorry!)
Yeah, moreover, this screenshot is taken on X :P
I wonder how close Mesa (Gallium) IR and SPIR-V are ?

Nice, but... UE4 demos still causes my radeon driver to crash :(
Anyway, compiling right now...

HTC & Valve Announce The HTC RE Vive

Are those actually laser sensors all over the HMD ?
One would get excellent positional tracking with this, but I guess it's really hard to use (from a SDK-maker perspective), even more if we take into account that these sensors are asymmetrically positioned.
Good work, valve (HTC too) !

I fear the price announcement, though.

Speculation: Here's The Possible List Of Games Valve Will Demo At GDC
24 Feb 2015 at 6:24 pm UTC

Quoting: Segata SanshiroIt wasn't related. This mouse I have pastes the last thing you copy if you press the mouse wheel too hard for some reason... So accident :).
Thanks for clarifying :) This really puzzled me :P

Just speculating... Couldn't this just be a "Welcome gift" for the GDC, or something like that; just a bunch of seemingly-random games they'll give away during one of their presentations ?

Clearly HL3 :P
I didn't understand how the link is related, but I would appreciate advice on gaming headsets; I'll probably open a forum post on this subject ^^

About speculation, I would advise a "wait and see" approach, don't get your hopes too high, otherwise you may get disappointed.
I am really eager to have a steam controller in my hands, though. But I will probably wait a bit after its release to purchase one, because it is likely they will change the design shortly after the release, IMO, given its evolution until now.

This one looks really nice, and resembles Diablo 3 a lot.
Local co-op would be a must !

Bleed, A Bullet Hell Platformer Now On Linux

This game looks really nice, but I think I'll wait for them to add Linux support to their website. I really like to have a drm-free version of these games to carry out with me, and a steam one to play on my computer.

Just one more though, that's something else which makes UE4 great !
(even if completely free -as in freedom- engines are intrinsically better for that matter)

Game maker has made much progress, I tried to use it back when I was a kid, but it was quite limited at the time.
Yeah, closed source is not viable, from this point of view. That's what RMS is fighting for : own your work, don't let any evil closed source tool steal it away from you whenever they want to.
