Did you even watch the trailer? This is very much the Borderlands we love and adore, being developed by 2K Australia.[/quote]I was thinking of Tales From The Borderlands. Didn't remember the Pre-Sequel thing. Do try to forgive me.

Borderlands: The Pre-sequel Looks Like It May Come To Linux (UPDATED)

The people here commenting are aware that this Pre-Sequel is, while using the Borderlands name, closer to The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us in terms of gameplay, right? It's made by telltale if I recall correctly. And that should make it a good deal more worth watching for me than the other games using the name. I'd like to know if either Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us might be coming to linux as well.

Civilization: Beyond Earth Has A Windows Release Date, Linux Now Unconfirmed

Aaargh, that's a little concerning. I'm the sort of person who can't be sure about linux support until I actually have it running on my computer, let alone announced on the steam page. Same thing that has me worried about Witcher 3.

Quoting: berarmaI think the same but I'm concerned that the games I buy may stop working next year or when I decide to move my gaming to a new GNU/Linux box I build myself. The complexity added by middleware wrappers like eON can make it difficult for me to run the game anywhere and when I want.
I hadn't considered that, to be honest. Fair point. I'm not sure if the linux version of UT2004 can be considered native, but that won't even work for me anymore, whereas it works perfectly under wine.

Wine seems a better solution for me since it's opensource. This removes dependence from any company. Not saying Wine is perfect, I don't like it, still adds an unwanted layer of complexity and has its own quirks and problems, but I could get my hands in it.
I do use wine for most of my linux gaming, but I'm constantly frustrated by how much they're held back. Not only is dx9 support STILL incomplete, but it seems like they don't really care about dx10/11 support. Where does that leave us? Some sort of wine wrapper might be an option, if the game dev works with the wine team to make sure it works acceptably, and all the wine improvements got shared, of course.

Quoting: DrMcCoyI reject the whole idea of eON, out of principle. Even if all games would run smoothly and rainbows would fart out of my monitor, I'd still reject it.=
To be honest, my main interest is in the game working under linux, not how it works. It's a game I'd wanted to play properly under linux for a while, and now I'm closer, if not there entirely.

I guess with eON, it's a symptom of linux versions of these games being in very early days. As time goes on and more games get ported, I'd think things will improve quite a bit.

Lots of hyperbole coming from a lot of people on this. :( Makes me sad. I don't really understand why Witcher 2 runs well on my machine and not others, but the fact is that it does, aside from slow level loading due to running on only one cpu core. I do wish that people could perhaps restrain their emotions just a tad where Eon is concerned and wait and see if things improve.
At lease CDProjekt did a better job with porting Witcher 2 to linux than From Software did of porting Dark Souls to PC. Give them some credit.

I'm one of those cynical type persons who tend to fear that what I'm told isn't true until I have the damn thing in my hands. I'm also one of those weird people for whom the linux port of the Witcher 2 works quite well. The single core cpu limitation mostly comes up for me in level loading and such, not in terms of framerate, which is usually pretty decent. Really glad to see linux support strongly hinted at.
