Spider-Man Remastered update out, has a couple Steam Deck fixes

It is encouraging to see Sony go out of their way to make special considerations for the Steam Deck.
If Sony does eventually make their own PC launcher, I hope their games will still be playable on the Deck.

Heroic Games Launcher adds GOG Cloud Saves, Epic Overlay support, anti-cheat helpers

Quoting: Blender-samaI think that is way at the bottom of their todo list. Valve is a company trying to make money. They sell the Steam Deck at a loss and subsidize it with game sales. Why would they want to support other stores in their own OS.
Because it gets more people to use their OS instead of Windows. And even if they add support for other stores, etc, Steam will still be the first and main store the user sees, and prefers to buy games from. Stuff like achievements, friends, etc, will still have an intrinsic incoporation with the OS, and keep the user within the Steam ecosystem while using the OS.

Heroic Games Launcher adds GOG Cloud Saves, Epic Overlay support, anti-cheat helpers

Massive thanks to the developer(s) of both Heroic Games Launcher and Lutris.

That said, Valve really needs to find a way to add these features directly in to the Game Mode of Steam OS, itself.
Like, there needs to be a Discover app built directly in to Game Mode, and a way to add non Steam games to your library, via the Game Mode, itself. It's weird, because Steam Big Picture mode already lets you add non-Steam games, but Steam OS 3.0 doesn't have that same feature.

GPD talk about 'cooperating' with Valve for SteamOS on their devices
13 Jul 2022 at 6:57 pm UTC Likes: 11

Let's forget about GPD for a moment, if this is true, then the bigger story here is that Valve are reaching out to other Handheld Gaming PC companies to ship their devices with Steam OS. This would confirm that Valve doesn't consider these devices to be competition, as they help drive Steam OS adoption.

Quoting: MrowlGreat news for Steam Deck, but more importantly great news for Steam OS as a whole. I plan to make a small form factor gaming PC to use as a 4K gaming console and install Steam OS to it, instead of buying a Xbox/PS5, etc.
Agree. Just curious. What CPU and GPU are you going to use?
All-AMD, with something like a Ryzen 7 5800X and an RX 6800XT.

Quoting: MrowlHow well does Final Fantasy VII Remake run on Heroic Games Launcher, and do you think it will run well on the Steam Deck?
Runs pretty well I believe. There is an article from Open4Everyone where Jason runs it with Heroic.
Oh awesome. This basically means the Deck is the best portable for Japanese RPGs then.

This is basically Steam Deck's secret killer app launch title, much like how BotW was to Switch.
