Game over for Roblox on Linux / Steam Deck as it's now blocked

Quoting: poiuzYou seem to think it's just a simple check in Roblox which can be circumvented. The check & message are just for convenience there to inform about the incompatibility. But the actual blocking will be happening by the anti-cheat software. This can't be circumvented, as we know from other games. The necessary APIs aren't even implemented in Wine.
They were using the same anti-cheat and allowing it through Wine before. This is mentioned in the article.

Quoting: TruckStopSantaClausComing back to announce that not only is JJ2R now on the Discover store, but it also works flawlessly on steam deck (make sure to add it a non Steam game for easy access). Oh and that's not all, tried it on my desktop and it has support for ultrawide monitors. it's almost like cheating :grin:
Oh sweet! Thanks for the update!

Will have to take a look at this when I've got a moment.

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderI would never have guessed that you have been playing Bomberman games...... Im totally shocked...... Shocked I tells ya..... SHOCKED!!!.....
Heheheheheh.

As an aside, I completed Orebody: Binder's Tale, and found its ending surprisingly sad! It was well worth playing, though, and I'm really glad that I picked it up.

Quoting: pilkMost cheaters use Windows and software specifically designed for Windows. Disabling Linux support isn't going to magically stop them.
Tech-savvy types educating kids about the risks posed by Roblox is probably more of a threat to their bottom-line than the infinitesimal number of cheaters using and/or allegedly enabled by Wine.

Quoting: Liam DaweAFAIK the creation side does not have the anti-cheat, so it should work, but naturally it has no support at all.
That's what I expected! Thanks - I find that most interesting!

What have you been playing lately? Reveal your top in the comments!
Aside from the usual Bomberman [External Link] + raft of emulation [External Link] combo, I've been enjoying GB Rober [External Link] (Proton), Orebody: Binder's Tale [External Link] (Proton) (both picked up during the suspiciously pro-dino Dinos vs. Robots Fest), and Yeah Yeah Beebiss II [External Link] (Proton). All run perfectly on the Steam Deck, though Yeah Yeah Beebiss II doesn't set the correct resolution out-of-the-box and needs manually setting to 1280x720 at present.

Quoting: neolithI was about to answer the same thing and just before hitting Enter I thought "You know... I am really bad at detecting sarcasm on the internet. I am not going to answer." I still cannot tell, but I suspect a missing /s.
Even if that's the case, I'm sure it'll help someone.

Also, I believe that they're still looking into "proper" online co-op [External Link], though apparently you can also use Steam Remote Play Together already, too.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThis is a bad thing. Certainly any idea I might have had of getting my grandkids onto Linux is now gone.
We should all be playing Bomberman instead, anyway.

Hey, Liam, I have a question, since I don't recall it being addressed in any of the recent articles about this, though it did come up in one a while back: Does this mean they're now blocking their game-creation suite on Linux as well, or are they happy to leverage child-labour for that whilst not letting them actually play what they create on Linux? They weren't blocking the creation tools before.
