A fully transparent Steam Deck mod is on the way

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderMaybe the mod is made of clear plastic from old recycled bomberman merch
Well, that would technically make them Bomberman Steam Decks, wouldn't it? Pair them with keyboards bearing these [External Link] and this [External Link], and it's all good!

Quoting: KlaasI can't express how frustrating it is to read about their actions.
Yeah, and that view on open software comes across as downright prehistoric, considering when it was apparently said.

I'm not going to judge the present stuff on that basis, though, since people and their opinions change, and that might have happened in the meantime - I haven't heard of any more recent interviews, so I don't know either way.

Quoting: BogomipsIt's prison-cool, because every electronic equipment needs to be in a transparent case to prevent inmates stashing things in them.
Hahaha, yes, that's true!  I've watched a couple [External Link] of excellent videos [External Link] about that - the first is entirely about a (considerably less-fancy) handheld, too.

I maintain that clear plastic is still 90s-cool, and I'll not hear otherwise.

Though this is cool to see, in a sense it's a pity that there's not also an official option for something like this - I think that a translucent "smoke" colourway would look really smart on the Deck!

Quoting: hardpenguinNo wonder they changed the name
According to this page [External Link], it was ultimately lawsuited out of existence, too, and I found this statement [External Link] (presumably published afterwards?) to be eye-opening. Looks like Sandtrix got off lightly!

So they must have people constantly looking around for anything resembling Tetris to strike.
They do! They're very protective of their trademarks - though I'm not sure how they've gotten one on Korobeiniki [External Link], unless it applies to a specific modern-day arrangement that they own?

As soon as I saw the article, I was instantly reminded of a very old homebrew Tetris clone that was originally called Tetanus, but then ended up being renamed to "Lockjaw [External Link]".

Anyway, I'm glad that this has had more attention drawn to it as a result of the legal stuff - I quite like Tetris and fun clones thereof, and will have to take a look at this one.

ELDEN RING tops the Steam Deck most played for May 2023

Quoting: MayeulCI started detailing the technicalities, then realized that is not what you were after... Well, if I can't use the Steam deck, I can plug the SSD into another computer to retrieve data. I can also boot it up on another computer, but the SD is better (my desktop randomly loses the USB controllers sometimes, which makes USB boot unreliable, and my other laptop only has 4GB of RAM).
I have priority though, as this is now my "work laptop" replacement (where the SSD originally comes from).
Thanks much for taking the time to reply. I'm most curious about using it in place of a laptop - do you use the dock (not necessarily connected to an external monitor) for this?

Quoting: 14I'm glad you mentioned this, because I was patiently waiting for evidently nothing to happen! Ha.
Glad to help! And I should probably actually mention the other bit that I figured out, for others' future reference, eh?

I find it interesting how Elden Ring, Stardew Valley, and Vampire Survivors are so often battling it out for the top spot in the monthly Steam Deck most-played charts - they're all so different, and on most platforms wouldn't be in such close "competition" like this, so I find it pretty interesting to see.

Quoting: MayeulCIt's a pain to manage a single one, especially as I often use it as a computer, booting on an external SSD, docked.
Just curious, how well do you get along with it in this use-case?
