I'll probably try Stadia for this. I doubt my RX460 will do, and I have no plan for a beefy and louder GPU.

They're doing a really great job there at Lutris. Coming from PoL this service is a huge improvement over what PoL was. I was sceptical at first it would end up in a script hell again, but it's a really pleasent and nice to use service. I agree with Perkleen, a donation is in order.

It's still on the weekend sale.. is it by now half playable and not that bug riddled any more? The reviews after release were quite devastating when it comes to bugs/crashing.

That's why I buy on GoG, itch.io or steam. They take their cut, sure, would expect nothing less of a service provider/distributor. But I am sure devs receive their agreed share.

I still think the 30 percent cut steam takes too much, especily on smaller titles, but it's not my decision to make.

And I disagree still that I can not give games I bought to friends. But the times probably changed too much for that.

I think Valve has another agenda with proton, like cloud gaming.

That said, we all can not deny... Valve sponsors a lot of work which helped linux gaming to become easier to adopt, helped a lot of games to actually work, and well... we got a lot of performance at a lot of games.

There are issues with anticheat etc., but I am very happy Valve did not just lip statements but actually hired developers, and did a lot of improvements over the stack.

Ye, I do back Valve on that. Even knowing their plan may be different. Their push helped linux gaming a lot. We'll see where it leads.

If they can get a dxvk steam cloud running they are miles ahead of Google. Just by supportet titles. But Valve is not known to support games personally, same as Google. We'll see where this leads, but for me DXVK, their own compositor, etc. points to a valbe standardized streaming platform.

They do not do that out of generousity. Of that I am sure.

150k for over 100 patents does not sound a lot. It isn't. The walk away settlement speaks of that.

Seems this company wanted to make sure their patents are not used by commercial big players, and realized there is little gain not providing it for open source since it helps adoption. Restricting would mean they just do not support it.

I still struggle with patents overall, I still think they prevent innovation. But a kind of deal where they are free to use for free software but not commercial products, well... I understand that very well. If someone wants to make money using your innovations.. though, that's not the OSS paradigm... it's fine for me.

We see all the open source development bringing big business to global players. Not a bad thing if they fund it too, which for some projects is true. For many it isn't.

But I think we live in times where the paradihm shifts. And we'll see more of it. For the better or worse, we can't say yet.

I love the game setting, but has something similar to a moba, a game mode I higly dislike.

The game is well done, the linux support great. I loved the hours I played it, but it's not for me it seems.

That looks neat. I'll picknit up when it leaves EA. Want to play when it's finished, picking up titles EA often left me never playing them after release ;-).
