Watch Dogs: Legion from Ubisoft arrives on Steam, playable on Steam Deck

Quoting: BeamboomOh wow! I thought I'd never come, this is fantastic news for me. I LOVED watch Dogs 2.

Instabuy. The next good handful of weeks gaming content is settled.
Hopefully this reaches you before it's too late: This is quite possibly the worst entry in the entire series. There is very little retained from the first game, much less the second. Play as anyone sounds good on paper but ultimately results in a story that relies on the antagonist(s) and supporting cast of defined characters since trying to create depth in characters that could be anyone is close to impossible. Mass hacks, calling in hits or forging an APB to create chaos between rival gangs or the police and gang factions are next to non-existent. The useable phone and the minigames, music player, on demand car deliver, etc. are gone completely. There's a pretty large chunk of lore and such to hear in the audio logs, but you can't play them while playing, you have to listen to them in a menu, or on the dedicated audio log channel in cars (can't choose which one you want, so hopefully you get one that you haven't heard before).

The long and short of it is this: Replay Watch Dogs, Bad Blood, or 2. You'll have a more enjoyable experience than you would playing this hot mess.

Paradox Interactive will be increasing game prices across a bunch of currencies

Quoting: RomlokAnd then there's the question of "do I really need to buy all the DLC"? There's a Pokemon-like urge we have to "catch 'em all", but the games with a lot of DLC generally have very little that are "must haves", especially when you're yet to get into the game, or don't give a hoot about cosmetics.
Funny enough, I recently came to the same conclusion with the overwhelming selection of (admittedly cheap individually) songs for the (soon to be delisted) game Fuser. I could pay hundreds of dollars for every song and cosmetic (some of which would be duplicate purchases due to bundles being included in that list), or I could just buy the songs I actually want to use.

I believe this is more or less the same thing that Motion Twin, the developer of Dead Cells, did recently, no? It looks bad on paper, but it's just adjusting the price to be more in line with the rest of the world, given that currencies like the Peso and Lira pay significantly less due to conversion rates than most other currencies.

All that being said, that's just my limited understanding on the matter, and coming from someone who's money isn't being hit by these changes, I understandably don't have the negative perception that others may have.

Multiplayer sandbox building game Brickadia heads to Steam next year
19 Dec 2022 at 1:29 pm UTC

Reminds me a lot of Blockland, down to having human scale home maps, the design of the brick tiles, and even some of the aspects of the player model. Looks good anyway.

Woof, went Googling to see if there were any allegations of infringement or anything like that, found allegations of a different sort entirely.

Immortals Fenyx Rising now on Steam but quite messy on Steam Deck

I'd be making a liar of myself if I claimed I was shocked or surprised that Ubi hasn't even done the bare minimum in bringing these games back to Steam. Lack of support for achievements is an annoyance but one that I know is contentious at best, and actively dismissed otherwise, but this just smacks of laziness and a desire to pad out their Q4 income on the cheap. Haven't bought from Ubi since they gave me a copy of Watch Dogs Legion as a thank you (and boy, did that feel back handed), and I sure hope they don't think this will change my tune anytime soon.

Nintendo goes after SteamGridDB, likely for people doing emulation on Steam Deck

I must admit I'm rather surprised by the replies I'm seeing on here. I'm not a fan of Nintendo's fondness for litigation and threatening folks with legal action by any means, but I think people are misunderstanding what's happening here. If they're taking down fanart, then yes, they're on shaky ground at best, but if it's official box art, renders, anything like that (and speaking as a Canadian, not a lawyer), they own that and they may very well be within their right to request it be removed.

As for the article title suggesting that they are doing this specifically because of people emulating their titles on the deck, while that may perhaps be case, it's a little presumptive. I'd imagine someone on their legal team came across it while looking for something to justify their continued employment and they jumped on it.

That being said, this is just my two cents, make of it what you will.

First-person zombie co-op shooter Projekt Z is up on Kickstarter
29 Apr 2022 at 5:28 pm UTC

I don't necessarily hate what I'm seeing, but I am rather weary of some of the stuff they're advertising. Seeing a (seemingly) paid battle pass mentioned, paid and free character packs, etc. are red flags for me these days. I want to hope it would be good, but this feels like a bigger gamble than most Kickstarter projects I've backed in the past.

Quoting: JustinWoodAs someone very new to all things Linux, I ended up landing on the recently released Nobara Project by Glorious Eggroll. Sounds like it simplifies some of the on-boarding versus traditional Fedora spins. https://nobaraproject.org/ [External Link]

Small edit: That being said, it's not my daily driver. I've got a drive reserved for it to run games that have better performance on Linux, particularly but not limited to Elden Ring currently.
Well, when you are new to Linux I would definitely stick to one of the mainstream distros like Fedora, Mint, Manjaro or Ubuntu. You will inevitably run into "problems" (probably not problems per se, but things that are just... different) and having forums and documentation for your distribution (and not just a "quite similar one") helps tremendously.

I actually initially started with Manjaro KDE, and while I liked the environment well enough, the performance wasn't what I had been hoping for, and worse, presumably due to some mistake in how I had done things in setting the installer up to split my drive to dual boot Windows and Linux, I ended up having to wipe the entire drive. A learning experience, at least, and after correcting a mistake with how I initially installed Nobara, I've had no issues with it that I didn't have with Manjaro, all of which I was able to work through with the assistance of a more experienced friend, and I find the performance much better, with and without launch arguments for individual games. I do appreciate the input though!
