One of my favourite games on Amiga, but also a VERY simple game once you get the hang of it. If they don´t manage to expand it in a lot of way, I can´t really see myself playing this seriously nowadays.
I still love that they are doing this and it looks really nice. For a 30-Minute nostalgia trip, it sounds quite tempting at least.
@Eike: Never played the PC version, so I cant say for sure, but that was a common problem with many games back then. It wouldn´t surprise me. Most towers used to have a speed-button to switch the CPU-speed for that exact reason (I remember my first PC could switch between 33/133mhz). The Amiga had the same issues if you had a turbocard installed. Not with every game, but many of them.

The MtG comparison actually fits quite well, only that trading card games would be even more problematic, because each boosterpack has a chance to give you an advantage while playing. In Valves games the benefits are purely cosmetic.
Gambling is a serious topic and its a discussion we´ve got to have. But I personally dont think trading card games should be banned and - by extension - neither should Valves marketplace.
@voytrekk: You are wrong, there are tons of alternate marketplaces for CS2 stuff etc. I find them all a bit cumbersome and shady, but its one of the great things about Valve, that they dont lock you down. You can trade user-to-user or use these marketplaces without giving a penny to Valve.
For that exact reason, PUBG descided to lock down trades after a while (changing all items to "marketable - non tradeable", because they got greedy and didn´t want to miss out on fees.

I really wasn´t expecting this.
The game was already great. With automation it might become one of the greatest.

Very weird with the DRM... the store page even lists GOG as developer, so I was hoping they would be completely DRM-Free (there are already a few DRM-free games on Steam)

Free and open source Settlers-like, Widelands v1.3 is out with market trading and new maps

Looks promising! Just downloaded it and will give it a try soon. Been locking for something to scratch that Settlers 1&2 itch for a while.
@Keksus: Judging from the screenshots (so take it with a huge grain of salt), I certainly wish the graphics would be nicer, but I don't think they look too inconsistent. The website has a screenshot with all five factions present:

Its far from perfect, but they all seem to have that pre-rendered isometric style now. Maybe you played an older version with placeholder graphics. I guess the faction on the lower left looks a little out-of-place, but not too much for my taste.
I wish someone would finally translate the beauty of the first two games into modern (preferably 2D) graphics. There are so many games, genres and styles that have been successfully modernised, but still no true oldschool Settlers.
