Been playing with this for a little over an hour, and so far I've had very good results overall. I've only really tried older games so far (smaller downloads, this just came out after all).

The not great:
  • Crazy Taxi: Loads, but crashes after pressing start.

  • Chip's Challenge 1: Does not load at all. Not surprising, I seem to recall this game requiring .Net 4+.

  • Learn Japanese To Survive Hiragana Battle: No graphics, it's possible desktop settings could fix this (compositor, etc). Plays blind w/ music.

The good:
  • Dead Island Definitive Edition: Plays great, mouse is slow in the main menu.

The great:
  • C&C Red Alert 3: Plays perfectly.

  • Duke Nukem Manhatten Project: Plays "perfectly" with nixon quotes. Takes like 30 seconds for the window to show, THEN plays perfectly. I'm not sure if it does this in windows too.

  • Sam & Max Season 1 Ep 2, Situation Comedy: Plays perfectly.

It's just copyright law, they have to defend it whether it's competing or not unfortunately.

Hotline Miami 2 Released, Doesn't Work On Linux For Some

I'm going to take a completely random stab at this and guess that it's related to which compositor is in use. The ones that use acceleration tend to cause input problems in OpenGL games.

Zotac Announces A Proper Steam Machine With SteamOS (Updated)

Seems a little steep on price, though Intel NUCs are always on the expensive side -- and this one blows them out of the water, so pricing in that sense is about right.

Pair this with Kodi (formerly XBMC) and you'd have a pretty slick HTPC.

My favorite horror-thriller is definitely the movie Event Horizon for several reasons. My not-yet girlfriend wanted to watch a scary movie with me way back then for obvious teenage reasons. It was the scariest movie I'd ever seen at the time, so I figured why not give her a thrill. We've been married for 10 years, and it took almost as long for her to even watch Jurassic Park again because of Event Horizon (Sam Neill). Interestingly, I found out just a few months ago that my dad won't even watch Event Horizon, because he can't sleep if he does.

Honestly, I have it on my shelf and love the story about the movie more then the movie itself. I've never watched my blu-ray of it, and I'm not sure I ever will.

AGS certainly is a tricky bit of software to get working with the various AGS games out there. For a while I had just used my own compiled version, but I've found the version of AGS bundled with the linux version of Quest for Infamy works really well with the various Wadjet Eye games.

Developer Who Sent A Death Threat To Gabe Newell Decided Not To Leave His Studio

It's not an over reaction, rather, it's almost certainly a matter of policy.

Things like death threats, legal threats, threats threats threats, almost certainly will result in the immediate termination of the business relationship along with any sort of communication (except via lawyers/legal routes). This isn't Valve specific, anyone that does this will find this to be the case with many businesses.

It's kind of a crap thing to happen to someone, especially the ones close to him that are directly effected by it. Though I don't sympathize for him, he made his own bed through some very bad decisions*.

*: Plural as a result of him apparently having a history of public issues like this, with this simply being the first one that seriously bit him and others in the ass.

Shovel Knight - An NES Inspired Platformer Released On Linux

Why is the era worth revisiting?

Because many gamers from that era are at a point in their life where they are starting to have more free time to get back into gaming, and are finding that their preferences and wants just aren't the target audience any more for big game publishers. As a result of this Indie devs (and a handful of bigger publishers) are filling the void, making the games this resurging generation wants -- pick up and play games with generally simple mechanics, a decent challenge, but not necessarily casual.

I have an entire wall filled with new and old games, most of the new ones I've never even opened, and many of the big-name titles in my steam library remain unplayed. However, Duck Tales Remastered, VVVVVV, Megaman 9/10, Castle of Illusion w/ Mickey Mouse, smaller titles like Costume Quest, they tend to get a lot of play time and actually beaten. It's not that I don't like the new games, I just find myself not often in the mood for them at the end of the day when I'm tired and want to relax and unwind by myself for a bit.
