Steam Beta fixes games from large libraries on Linux / SteamOS showing as not valid on current platform

Linux

Fixed a bug that could result in Proton games showing up as "Not valid on current platform" for users with very large libraries.
If this is the bug where you see the Available for Windows and the Install button is greyed out, then they have not completely fixed that bug. It looks like I am on the Steam Beta. I have seen this in one of my games, and on a Steam Family library game and a demo

Hi, if Valve wanted to make playing older versions of games simpler, there is one simple change they could make to allow the users to disable auto / forced updates. Then the user can use the Steam console or depot downloader to downgrade the game

@Pyrate
Ubisoft Connect / UPlay is the bane of my existence, especially for Assassin's Creed 2 on launch, getting kicked back to the main menu because UPlay lost connection

I do not think I have had the problem with it not remembering my credentials, but I have had more problems with EA Origin / EA launcher, for example, not being able to pass the -ui command-line argument to Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, which made it harder to play mods for C&C 3. I stopped using EA Origin / EA launcher when C&C Ultimate Collection arrived on Steam

@seamoose
I run a custom install of Linux Mint. I do not have a problem with other lunchers, but ruining them on Wine / Proton, they do not run well, or the original lunchers are just bloated telemetry gavering pup I use Heroic Games Launcher for GOG & Epic and Steam for C&C games

Nexus Mods app improves file conflict management ready for Fallout 4 and Skyrim

Let's hope they understand that Linux-based os use a case-sensitive file system. This can be a problem if they do not take into account the issue of case sensitivity of the file system, for example, Fallout - The Frontier

The Frontier-Master NVSE
The Frontier-Hotfix nvse
You have two folders with the same plugin, so which one will load? There are other files and folders where the case of the file and folder names is different between the Master and the Hotfix

There is an updated master that combines the master and the Hotfix. This may not be a problem for this mod now, but there may be other mods with the same problem

Hi, I do not know if this counts, but there is one you missed, Halo Custom Edition, it is Halo Combat Evolved multiplayer, but there is a mod to allow you to play the single player campaign

hi
I think I am going to stick with ProtonUp-Qt. I tried the Flatpak version, but there was no option to switch the theme to the dark theme. I am running Linux Mint Cinnamon with a dark theme. If or when I get the time, I am going to look into building from source

IMHO, if I were going to develop an application for Linux, I would never touch libadwaita or any new ui libraries from GNOME

Nexus Mods new app gets more UI improvements, performance upgrades and a Linux fix

No, that is not what Comandante Ñoñardo means by Nexusmods censorship
For example, Starfield's pronoun-removal mod has been banned by NexusMods,

And other mods have been removed. I can give other examples, but

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition announced with Steam Deck support

Judging by not being compatible with the older games saves nor mods, I would think those are on a new engine.

Now comes the question: are they as bugged as the originals? Because those are notorious for the amount of bugs they have.
The FAQ says no, but I am going to test a save file from the original games

hi
You can play the single-player campaigns in OpenRA. The problem is when you complete the mission, you quit back to the main menu and then select the next mission

hi
on the Nightdive discord

Dense Reaper — 05:18
I preordered SSR on Steam before it came out, and yet it’s saying I have to pay for SS2 Remastered despite the fact that me and the rest of us who preordered SSR on Steam were promised that we’d get SS2 Remastered for free.
Bundle85 — 05:21
it willl be added, it just hasn't yet
Dense Reaper
So basically, it’ll take a couple days or something before it says I can get it for free. Right?
Bundle85
i don't have a timeframe other than before launch, but it will be added to the library
