I ordered the controller. I have my doubt on the Steam Link and I prefer to wait and see. As for the Steam machines, I'll probably order a cheap version and upgrade it myself but I prefer to wait until all the Steam Machines are available (and hoping for a good surprise).

Wait people, stop!!! And take time to look at the Steam about page : http://store.steampowered.com/about/ [External Link]
Also, Valve did told the developers to test their games on Ubuntu, and Steam OS is like 95% Debian, so there is absolutely no doubt that the games are going to work on these distros. Also, if you haven't read the news, as it is now the buzz on Steam Machines is totally gone and Valve will need a major marketing campaign if they don't want it to become a huge failure, which if you don't have realized it yet, would be very bad for us.
But I don't like that logo either.

I seriously still though this was a good idea, it's probably just not the right time.
Also on the 25% cut, Gabe did say that Valve takes around the same thing as other micropayment systems, so that's around 25% and I think that's fair, since they do all the job of selling your stuff while you sit there waiting for the money to come. So that mean the other 50% were for Bethesda, it's a lot but they did create the engine, they did create the assets and they did create the tools that allow people to make the mods, so it just right that they should have share of the profit. On very popular games and with a popular mod you could still make enough money to not have to have another job, which was the main idea, they didn't want it to become too much of an opportunity for easy money. Too bad that didn't work, maybe donations will but if it's done through Steam, Valve will still take a cut.

Valve and other game developers offer a new right to change their source code and now to sell the changes. That a good news to everyone ... expect some idiots.

Quoting: seveni don't wanna spell doom or anything but i don't think steammachines gonna be a success, i hope i'm wrong but i don't see them kick a dent in the xbox/PS universeIf it does boost Linux gamers figures a little it will be enough, and if it's not a terrible fail that is what is to be expected. And for PC manufacturers, Steam Machines are a very important opportunity so I expect a huge wave of marketing from them.

It's the same studio that made Hive, and it works great ... but it look terrible. Those horrible Nuvola icons, they are everywhere, I can't stand it. Only buy if you're blind, or if you like those Nuvola icons.

Quoting: minjTaken from here : http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/shopping/buy-sell-online/rights-e-commerce/index_en.htm [External Link]IF YOU ARE AN EU SUBSCRIBER, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO WITHDRAW FROM A PURCHASE TRANSACTION FOR DIGITAL CONTENT WITHOUT CHARGE AND WITHOUT GIVING ANY REASON FOR A DURATION OF FOURTEEN DAYS OR UNTIL VALVE’S PERFORMANCE OF ITS OBLIGATIONS HAS BEGUN WITH YOUR PRIOR EXPRESS CONSENT AND YOUR ACKNOWLEDGMENT THAT YOU THEREBY LOSE YOUR RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL, WHICHEVER HAPPENS SOONER. THEREFORE, YOU WILL BE INFORMED DURING THE CHECKOUT PROCESS WHEN OUR PERFORMANCE STARTS AND ASKED TO PROVIDE YOUR PRIOR EXPRESS CONSENT TO THE PURCHASE BEING FINAL.Now this is too legalise for me. It reads like we have that right but actually we don't because all purchases will include a mandatory checkmark to waive that right, or did I misunderstand it?
Is that even legal? o.0
You also enjoy the right of withdrawal within 14 days from concluding the contract for online digital content. However, once you start downloading or streaming the content you may no longer withdraw from the purchase, provided that the trader has complied with his obligations. Specifically, the trader must first obtain your explicit agreement to the immediate download or streaming, and you must explicitly acknowledge that you lose your right to withdraw once the performance has started. This is perfectly legal, Valve follow the law to the letter.
