Quoting: liamdaweI am personally hoping it's at least okay, as I've been wanting to try it for a while. To be fair, RPS' John said he recommends it despite its flaws.

As to why he left id software, remember it was acquired by Bethesda, which is as harsh towards Linux and FOSS as one can possibly be. Remember that they put a patent on Carmack's reverse, the one technology that allowed early 2000s computers to render Doom3's realtime shadows, which led him to code another way of doing it for open sourcing the engine, as it was a blocker. Also they are currently suing the man himself for his works on VR that they accused him of stealing, as he was allegedly working on it during his time at id.
Those guys aren't friendly at all, and I think TTimo, as the company's Linux porter and networking technician, just wasn't in a nice working environment anymore.

Quoting: Comandante oardoWAIT!I just admire him. This guy has been doing an impressive job and now he's back in business, I'm elated. I can't wait to see what he's up to next.
THE TTimo is responsible of this??? The Linux porter of Doom 3 and Quake 4??!
Or is another Ttimo?

The problem is, some companies (not CDPR obviously, but still) complain that Linux sales aren't up to their expectations, and I tend to understand this point of view. But most of the time, just look at how they communicate on their products, and how they market them: it's a disaster.
They just can't get public attention with poor practices like those, and all this is happening far too often. I know software devs/editors can't take all the blame - look at Valve, their communication is non-existent. Buy still, no communication is way better than all this Witcher 3 mess...

Quoting: ShmerlA wrapped version would help us showing our support, though.Quoting: hoolapararayahoocoukSo to summarise, there may or may not be a linux version of Witcher 3, which may or may not be in development and may or may not be released sometime that may or may not be in the future?Yep, pretty much nothing new here ;) Personally, I'm looking forward to Wine supporting it. But I wouldn't mind if some wrapper version will appear as well. Native one is highly unlikely either way.

Quoting: BumadarAs for it not coming to Linux, if you played it then you know how utterly brilliantly looking the game is and if you followed the release a bit then you know how much effort it cost them to even get it working probably on current gen consoles and windows, I truly doubt the 1% Linux customers will bring enough to return the investment to get it running on Linux in the same state, because if they can't get it running with the same visual effect/framerates we will all be upset and shouting at them.I also do remember that graphics were cut down on PC for the sake of platform parity. Let them release their titles on PlayStation and never mind again about them. Really.

This is not that big of a surprise, NS2 on Linux is a crash fest, nothing ever gets fixed and they don't have a 64bit build.
I never played that game online because you don't have enough time to get more skilled: there's always an update to break it, either drivers or the game itself, I really wanted to play it and enjoy doing so, but I can't, it doesn't run often enough.
Eventually, I ended up uninstalling it, and it doesn't look like I'm going to install it again any time soon.
