Quoting: omer666On my rig, the game doesn't steal focus on startup, and it still doesn't connect to Relic servers no matter what. I think the second issue is Relic/Sega-related, but the first one is new.
I don't know if it's a similar problem with the certs that I had on borderlands 2 but for archlinux doing a ln -s /etc/ssl /usr/lib/ssl fixed the problem with the game with SHIFT servers , maybe something similar in your case.

The path is maybe different but I think it could help you.
That's quite strange as I can connect to Shift without any problem, including on Arch (which used to be installed on my computer until I switched to Fedora). But I'll look into this, thanks a lot.

Quoting: edddeduckferalThe first issue is likely caused by a Window manager we don't support that is doing something we don't expect. The second issues most likely caused by your usage of a unsupported distro that deals with security certs in a different way.

I'd contact Feral support via email with some details of both issues and we can have a look however given the issues appear to be caused by unsupported distro usage we can't promise anything. That said we have worked around bugs in unsupported distro issues before so it's likely we will fix them as long as we get a a 100% test case.

In fact the windowing bug mentioned in the latest update was only reported on unsupported distros and we fixed it :)
In fact I already contacted Feral support about the second issue several times and they couldn't find any solution. I know only Ubuntu and SteamOS are supported, however even when I disable SElinux completely, it still doesn't work. Maybe it's a Steam Runtime problem, I'll look into this when I have the time.

Should I contact support for the windowing bug anyway?

I am not complaining, I'm pretty much enjoying the game as it is. Thanks for supporting Linux!

The worst thing about this piece of news, is that I immediately forgot what it was all about as soon as I had finished reading it. I suspect it's about some game or something...

If only we could reach 5%, that would give us as much influence as Mac OS users, which is more than sufficient to begin with.

That's sad news, but it don't mind, they are Linux-friendly enough. I'm just sad I won't be able to show my support this time.

Shadows of Kurgansk, a good looking single-player action and survival game now on Linux & SteamOS

Why "sloppy"? Can a game really be sloppier than the original Stalker? It was groundbreaking but flawed because of limited resources and development hell. I think there's some room for a Stalker-inspired game, especially if it comes to Linux. Already in my wish list.

You can play controversial FPS 'Daikatana' on Linux now, thanks to a fan patch endorsed by John Romero

I've been using this patch since its first Linux version. I think people have quite harsh opinion about this game. To be fair, now that sidekicks can be disabled, I think it's going get a lot better. It's got a nice Quake II feeling that I dig. Granted, it's not Hexen II or Quake, but without sidekicks it's getting near enough.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroShout out to Eador: Masters of the Broken World as well, one of the most unusual cases of Linux porting out there.
I prefer to refer to this game as Eador: Masters of the Broken Port. I've never seen such a ridiculous port, ever.

I like to imagine the porting process:
Dev 1: Let's use Wine!
Dev 2: Does it run?
Dev 1: I don't know, let's do it anyway!
Dev 2: But we don't have a Linux rig in the office, how will we test it?
Dev 1: No need to test it! It's Linux, remember? No one will play it!

Vanguard Princess, a 2D fighting game that features an all-female cast is coming to Linux

Quoting: omer666Vanguard Princess is a really good VS fighting game, and I'm not saying that because of the fair amount of fan-service that's provided by the game (even if I could, but that's another matter :p)

More particularly, the animation is top-notch, and the game is often said to have been developed by a former Street Fighter III developer (the best episode to date). Whether this is true or not, the game is really well crafted with some interesting gameplay ideas, and the hitting priorities and overall feeling is really pro-quality.

The game is essentially 1 vs 1, but it uses a second character based on the same model as strikers that can be found in Marvel vs Capcom or King of Fighters '99.

Definitely recommended, will buy when it's out.
That's surprising. From what I remember, it seemed pretty shoddy even on Windows. It was a 2009 game made with the "Fighter Maker" program. It didn't even have support for widescreen monitors. Has it improved somehow? I'm not saying it won't be good, but it's hard to see how it could be better than Skullgirls.

Edit: I should note. I'm referring to how the game runs rather than the gameplay. It might be stellar.
Well it depends on what you're expecting from a 2D fighter in general. Granted, Vanguard Princess is low-res, but I think the art direction is awesome. Skullgirls is hi-res, and overall it's technically superior, buy the art-style and gameplay don't appeal to me. I've had been having the game and it's DLCs in my library for a long time but I still haven't played it...

When you're used to playing SF III or Mark of the Wolves, Vanguard Princess' graphics aren't bad at all, quite impressive for a doujin game. Some series like King of Fighters or SNK vs Capcom kept low-res sprites for quite some time even after switching to 3D backgrounds, and in my opinion that looked way shoddier than Vanguard Princess.

Just my opinion though, and I never liked western fighting games that much, apart from the occasional Killer Instinct. Even Mortal Kombat, I find it gross and stiff in its gameplay. A matter of tastes, I think.
