Great post Liam, very insightful as usual.
As I may already have stated, I switched from gaming on consoles and working on Linux to doing both on Linux without feeling any shortage.
In itself it is already a great sign and I'm still looking forward to seeing what's next.

Feral Interactive are teasing another new Linux & Mac port with a new clue

The most obvious title should be Dawn if War II, but I wonder if we're not already too late in development process to tease it through their radar. Everybody knows it's coming, and it already has a Linux launcher, according to SteamDB.
It can't be Warhammer Total War as it's been officially confirmed long ago...
So what can it be?

Quoting: tjwhaynesgmailcomI think you folks are over thinking this:Already stated earlier, and it's a reliable hint for sure.
Mars - Roman God of War
808 SB12S - Lyric from MC Hammer
Warhammer - in one of it's incarnations.

Still, it looks like a good hint. You guys are slowly convincing me, I hope Feral won't disappoint!

Quoting: wvstolzingAlso, few people know this, but one of John Carmack's many talents is that he's a virtuoso trumpet player -- and his favorite instrument happens to be the 'System Blue 12S; or the SB12S' [External Link]...but Carmack's not involved in Doom 4 in any possible way.
So, discussion over, I believe?

Quoting: tuubiI hope it's something more interesting than Doom. Mad Max would be fun.OK, thanks for clarifying, I wasn't aware of these facts.
And now to my happy place, Off Topic:
Quoting: omer666First, porting from one low level API to another low level API may range from difficult to suicidal, and then, it may ultimately bring some overhead whereas the goal of both these API's is to reduce this overhead to the minimum... nonsense if you ask me.No, actually what you said is (partly) nonsense. Porting from an API to another is only difficult if these API's are very different. This isn't the case with Vulkan and DX12. Being low level hasn't got much to do with it. In fact, porting between them seems to be trivial compared to OpenGL and DX11 due to their very similar design. Parts of the port can almost be done with search-and-replace, especially if and when a usable HLSL to SPIR-V compiler finally surfaces. And porting itself does not imply overhead if the graphics engine is well designed and sensibly abstracted, although any backend implemented as an afterthought by a third party is rarely well optimized and polished.

About 808 and music, the TS-808 is a well known guitar pedal effect from Japanese guitar makers Ibanez, it is a type of distortion/overdrive. It is well know for being a key part of Stevie Ray Vaughan's signature sound. Today, the 808 number and it's green color still refer to that particular sound.
Also, the SB12 is an Ampeg bass amp from the late sixties, also known as Ampeg Portaflex.
So we know it's probably not Doom because of the Mac requirement... I don't know what it can be.

It looks way better than Clan Wars, which was quite half baked if you ask me.
Hedgewars has some great features going for it, and I really like how it's playing. But at the same time, well a good old Worms is still a treat nevertheless. I play both and I'm fine with it. How lucky, two great games on Linux!

Quoting: wolfyrionA friend of mine called me that he had a logitech PS3 Wheel to give me for Free because he had no use for it.If your friend's got some other old hardware to spare, he can be my guest ^_^ ...
http://support.logitech.com/en_my/product/driving-force-wireless [External Link]
Well I dont know the real reason why he didnt want to use it anymore , maybe he replaced his ps3 with ps4 and was not working? maybe it was not working in Windows ? or maybe he broke his ps3? :D
Well with my friend we have a small friendly fight Windows Vs Linux every time we meet...
Anyway I invited him to come to my house so we can test the Wheel...
At the start he was teasing me if there are any racing games available for Linux...
I told him that many racing games are available but we can play GRID Autosport since is one of the best racing games available in Linux...
Anyway I pluged in the Wheel ...and launched the game
(He got confused and said , ehh ... arent you going to install any drivers ??? how the heck is going to work???)
With a great surprise everything was working perfectly in the game , even the wheel was vibrating, shaking, etc and without any configuration...
You had to see his face... :woot:
I was surprised as well but now I have a racing wheel which I have to learn with it how to drive because is a bit hard atm ...
