Serious Sam 4 confirmed to be in development right now

Serious Sam 3 is true to its roots: stupid humour, very fast paced, stiff physics engine (so 90s...),crazy weapons...
It has some boring moments, like when you're first attacked by choppers, but it's only to release tension in the second half the game, when you stop reloading and start shooting hundreds of poor devils in a row running backwards. Oh and it has split screen multiplayer.
In a few words: Serious Sam kicks some serious ass, no kidding.

By the way, is there any news about Serious Sam First/Second Encounter HD Linux ports? Not that I don't like Talos, but I want my Serious Sam fix :D
Unreal Tournament on Linux, checking up on the progress by Epic Games and how to get it running on Linux

I'm such a UT fan, the game has been installed on my computers ever since I bought the Macintosh cardboard box back in the day. Still have it somewhere...
I put off playing this until it's complete, but this video got me really optimistic. It looks like a best of both worlds gameplay - by this I mean UT and UT2004. Physics more particularly give the impression of being very faithful.
Facing Wolds looks pretty good in this version, and the gameplay seems a bit more nervous than UT3's.
As far as classic maps are concerned, Epic has a long tradition of porting some of them over, and community map packs complete the job in general. For example Deck and Curse date back to the first Unreal and have been remade for every Unreal game releases ever since... Glad to see it hasn't changed.
Can't wait to play the finished product. By the way, is it in beta state yet? I hope it will be out before next year...

Sunday chat: What have you been playing, and what do you think?

I play Quake single player on QuakeSpasm and QuakeWorld on EZQuake quite a bit.
There's also Yamagi Quake 2 and q2pro for some Quake II fragfest.
If you want to have a quick death match someday I'd be interested.

Quoting: rea987Quake via QuakeSpasm source port. Yup, I still do not have a decent PC. :-PThat's still one of the best FPS ever.

- Alien Isolation: still struggling to survive through this horrible experience (but so addictive). Several months later I'm still not even halfway through.
- Saints Row 2: I'm having fun collecting and tuning cars, creating hellish mess on the highway shooting truck drivers in the head. Not playing through the story yet.
- Sword Coast Legends: just bought it this weekend. I had a hard time running it, as it needs some trick to run on non-English speaking systems. I'm not into all the fuss around the game not using strict D&D rules, and as a matter of fact I pretty much dig the way combats are handled. I only started playing through the first chapter and I love it.
[Edit] I've also been playing some Tomb Raider. While performance is acceptable for me, it's the playability with Steam Controller that annoys me. Indeed, controller input stops working as soon as the mouse is moving, so you can't fully use the Steam Controller's features. Using the track pad as a joystick is not an option for me.

Tomb Raider benchmark video comparison, Linux vs Windows 10

Quoting: wojtek88I feel like I need to clarify one thing regarding my opinion - I know that Feral may not be the one to blame for performance. But Feral is the one who announces release, and Feral is the one who makes game available for us. And there was no information about known performance issues or they did not say that the game is released, but there is performance update that we should expect. Instead, we have a product, that seems to be final according to all the advertisements, but is not according to performance. No worries, I was not pointing at you by any mean, I just wanted to clarify who's doing what as far as pure performance is concerned, and nVidia is a factor we should not overlook. Their monopoly doesn't encourage them to push things forward and it's a real shame at the time. As their hardware is included in every Steam hardware produced as of now, their Linux drivers should be top priority... But obviously, they're not.
And I just expect those issues to be solved, and Feral needs to take part in fixing process. Even if nVidia is the one to blame.
If this is fixed and performance is comparable to Windows, then I will be happy to give them my money for the full price.
But sadly, currently I have an impression that we have a half product.

Well don't forget nVidia's part in this.
Lately I remember playing Total War Attila (not a Feral port by any mean) and getting awful performance with the drivers it was released for, then everybody was blaming Creative Assembly for not optimising their game engine. Quite recently I updated to 361 series and gave it a try, to my surprise the game was running quite smoothly.
To be fair, I think Feral always do their best, but don't forget, nVidia need to get their drivers updated on time for game releases. Also the game's been out on Windows for more than two years, and it is very often used for benchmarks in the Windows world. Drivers must have been continually optimised in two years time... Hence that big difference between the two OS.
As usual, we have to wait. Not so long ago, I've had been waiting for nVidia to correct a display glitch happening on GNOME for a year and a half.
I think this company really needs to get their things sorted out way more quickly...

TressFX just kills my GTX660. Other than this it seems to run pretty well on Ultra, I'll see if it stays playable.

Quoting: scaineMaybe it's when you see what the enemy sees as you're playing. Quite unplayable if you ask me :PQuoting: melkemindYeah, weird way to describe the viewpoint. I think it's just 1st person is through the eyes, 3rd person is over-the-shoulder and so they've gone with 4th person for a fixed viewpoint. Never come across it before.Quoting: CandricSWhat is a fourth-person?Just taking a guess here, but maybe you don't control the person at all, just the environment. Or maybe you make suggestions to the character and they may or may not listen? I have no idea. :S:
First-person is when you're seeing from the point of view of the character and third-person is when you're observing the character as if there was a camera there. What would fourth-person be?
They've got me wondering what a 2nd person viewpoint might look like...
