Quoting: coryrj19951hmm... anyone getting this [External Link] or this [External Link] error, or know how to fix it? And it segfaults when I press play from the main menu.
Looks like a driver problem, what are you running the game on?

In fact I have no problem whatsoever with these post-processing effects. I think it can be used in a creative way, and in Alien: Isolation I think it adds to the lo-fi horror of the game.

In Dying Light, the film grain effect made me instantly think about some old evil horror film and to me it's okay if you consider the overall mood of the game, the problem is that it doesn't work that well outdoor. Having an option for it is always welcome, though.

But I don't think it is welcome in a competitive FPS...

[EDIT]OK in fact I didn't read the link above before posting, where A:I is actually listed as an exception.

Oops. Wasn't aware of this.
Yes I meant it's not mainline, indeed.

Cities: Skylines updated with new map tools and tons of fixes

For me last patch brought better performance, but this new patch doesn't. Well I won't complain, and I don't have a Windows partition to compare it to. I'm quite happy with it.

Quoting: edono future support for CSMT its definitely bad news, that sucks
You must have misunderstood what is actually happening.

Wine Staging is not an official build and integrates patches that the official version doesn't include yet. That's how they got to integrate CSMT in the first place.

The CSMT patch used with Staging is becoming incompatible because CSMT is in the process of being included upstream. So actually, as soon as upstream Wine finishes working on CSMT, you will get it back and enabled by default.

Quoting: ZeloxI belive Both Blizzard and EA have stated they want to support Linux.
Blizzard even hade a linux beta client for wow vanilla.
Their recent statements about Linux prove quite the contrary. Also, there's still no proof the WoW client was not a fake.

On another hand, do we really need to rely on those companies? Sure their games sell by millions, but they have been using the same old formula for so long that another company could very well take their place with something new. And if this something new runs on Linux...

Serious Engine 1 Linux source code is coming

Quoting: clelSo the games were already ported in 2002? Why these versions are not available on Steam?

Also I hope that Croteam releases those ports on Steam, if possible, so people can enjoy their games without much effort.
Ports weren't complete, they were struck in beta state.
I think I heard the games could not be completed and the First Encounter one runs way too fast on modern hardware.

Quoting: valguskI think releasing source is much better then official port.
first, you get to polish it for as long as you want
second, you can have android version :D
thrid, remember berserker quake2, quake 2 evolved, tenebrae, darkplaces? well, I can imagine that at least one enhancement like this (might be vulkan) will land here too.
Viva la open source!
While your point is completely valid, it seems that the trend nowadays is towards faithful ports or bug-fixing only developement. But I could be wrong. I hope I am ^_^

Quoting: STiATThat's actually what we'll get. The executable.
The engine's a plus. The executable's a plus. Annoyance would be the assets. Because you're going to have to nab an old disk set or hoodwink Steam into letting you have it on the Linux side, assets-wise to be able to take advantage of this...unless someone were to get a "support gig" that gets an "official" version on Steam and the like.
And what about this [External Link]?

Obsidian and Paradox team up for new RPG called Tyranny and it's coming to Linux

Quoting: GuestAhhh, if only we could get first (or even third) person action RPGs
Actually there's Arx Fatalis by Arkane Studios which engine is FOSS and ported to Linux thanks to Arx Libertatis project (here is the project page [External Link]). Give it a try, it's a (not so anymore) modern take ont the Ultima Underground formula.
