Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition Delayed For Linux, Again

Quoting: EagleDeltaOk, I'm going to be the voice that no one agrees with, but Larian is a business. No matter what they promised, no matter what we expect, their #1 goal is to make money... nothing else. So from a business perspective, it makes sense that they would focus on the largest markets first for the Enhanced Edition.

Is it kind of shitty? Yes.
Is it the reality of the world we live in? Yes.
I think you just forgot about the whole "send us your money, we're releasing this on Linux" matter, but hey as Liam says, it's only a promise.

So, let us behave the way we treat people who don't honour a (paid for) promise: distrust and boycott them. I don't mean to insult them with my reaction, I'm just telling Larian to act realistically. We're not interested in this project any longer. Just see how backers -- or I should say investors -- react to this: too little, too late.

Because you underline the fact Larian is a business, let me remind you some basic communication and marketing knowledge: distrust is the worst thing you can get as a business. Distrust from customers is one thing, distrust from investors is way more dangerous.

I know we're not as representative a market as Windows, but who cares. A business that doesn't want customers doesn't deserve customers, and one who betrays them doesn't deserve anything at all.

Quoting: ShmerlLarian were hit by lack of Linux developers I suspect. They develop their own engine, and unlike the above which use Unity, they actually write their own graphics code.

As was pointed out already, the fact that they didn't include Linux in their new crowdfunding campaign is very telling.
On this I totally agree, but still, we need to define more accurately the role of crowd-funding. People pay real money to play this on Linux, I don't see why they should be treated so lightly. It's not the Linux gamer reacting here, it's the basic customer, and my reaction is just as the above, i.e. distrust and boycott. And laugh at them.

HOHOHOHOHOHOHO.
Come on you can't be serious!
With Shadowrun: Dragonfall, Pillars of Eternity, Sword Coast Legends, Wasteland 2 and many other great RPGs - that have been already able to actually release the damn port they promised - around the corner, do you think you have the legitimacy to even SELL this game to us?
Pathetic.

My First Hours With A Steam Controller

Quoting: omer666Question: does the Steam Link work with a Linux host yet? I would be very interested but I just don't have a Windows partition.
I can use inhome streaming from my Ubuntu desktop to an Ubuntu laptop. So I think it should work with the Link, too.
Great news! I think I'm going to use some spare unit and try it for myself before considering buying the Link+controller...

Valve Is Trolling Us With A New Half-Life 3 Leak

Quoting: liamdaweYeah, yeah I know. Every time I pick it up I'm just not hooked by it for some reason, it's odd. I should probably dedicate some time to actually finishing it
It's less unique 11 years after it was released. At the time it was much more of a marvel. It's still a great game, but it's been done arguably better since, with newer tech.
In fact most of the HL2 hype was located around its graphics and physics engine, as well as its cool NPC that any uber-geek wanted in his bed for one night.
Nowadays, anyone can do HL2 physics, and while graphics are still great, well, they are 10 years old now. I think you still get a great story and gameplay when playing through HL2. I had a lot of fun doing so and I pretty much enjoyed its universe. I know I'm a sci-fi whore, but I think my opinion can still be relevant :p

Overlord & Overlord 2 Coming To Linux, Two More Virtual Programming Titles
11 Oct 2015 at 9:35 am UTC

Quoting: oldrocker99And, Another Game I bought in my dual-boot days is coming to Linux. I haven't played Overlord 2, but I did like the first one. Perhaps it'll be at some huge discount for both on release.

I'm also pretty happy with VP's wrapper for The Witcher 2, which I know is heresy for some people.
It is heresy for early buyers. I was one of them and was very disappointed by this launch. Also the fact it was a wrapper was really obvious because of the numerous bugs and poor performance showcased by the port. Now everything runs almost native speed, and I recently bought Bioshock Infinite which uses the same wrapper. Now, I'd say that a wrapper port is better than no port, but still, some native ports still run much better than this.

For games like Overlord 1 & 2 it will be just fine. ;)

Humble Indie Bundle 15 Has Launched, Say Hello To Skullgirls

Quoting: Mountain ManAnd spare me the "charity" guilt trip. Most people don't buy Humble Bundles because it's a charity but because it's a great way to get games for cheap
In fact it is because it is charity that they happen to sell cheap game bundles, don't be mistaken. Developers are aware of it (hence the discount) and Humble Bundle uses it as a strategy in order to raise money from a public that is not always prone to it. So, in a way you are right: people don't buy those for charity, but still, (some) money goes to charity, that's what matters (my opinion).

About your warning, I think it was just objective statement and I don't see any harm in it. Still, I would like to emphasise the great work that Aaron does and send him a big and cheerful THANKS from France.

Have a nice day folks and enjoy your Humble cookie!

Age Of Wonders III Now Has Mods, Linux Support Included, But No Mod Tools For Us

I have no problem whatsoever on Core i7 4770 and GTX 660.

Quoting: JuliusYeah, not Heroes like at all. More like Civ5 with turn based tactics mode bolted on top.

It's a great game, but a civ5 like game maybe doesn't lend it self so well to a story based strategy game, which I assume most people will have bought AoW3 for.

In addition: maybe its just nostalgia, but the previous 3 parts seemed a bit more fun back then.
Strange, I don't feel like this at all. In fact I played a lot more Heroes 3 than Civ V so I can't really express myself on this point. But many features remind me of Heroes, including the various buildings/mines/lumber mills you can find in the map, the way quests are handled on the map, etc. Just my opinion.

In fact on the official link they state it will be out on GOG in the next 24h, so I don't think modding is an obstacle in itself. The problem lies somewhere else, and as I do think this situation is far from perfect, it is also the case for many other great games, and I don't even talk about games that have a Linux version that isn't available anywhere like the UT games...
