NVIDIA driver 525.85.05 is out now for Linux

The driver keeps needing manual recompiling of the kernel module on Fedora 37, which is pretty annoying

I recently noticed that Sapphire RX 6600 is now 300€ here in France, so I think prices are slowly coming back to normal. If AMD ever stops this PCI-E 8x madness, I may very well buy their next mid-range offering.

If anything, the current IP owners should just pay these guys and publish the final result.

Epic Games are killing off a bunch of classics like Unreal Tournament

As for the master server, as with many late 90s multiplayer FPS, players have been using their own server lists for a long time now.

I just hope that some day, a (yet to be known) dev is going to release titles as groundbreaking as Quake 3 or UT, so that we can live another golden age of the arena shooters...
i would argue that battle royals are somewhat the modern successor of arena shooters. just with more players bigger maps and only last man standing gamemode

think about 100 player ctf in pubg or apex. it could work ...
We already had 64-player CTF in Quake 2...
While battle royals may be fun, it is no Team Death match and the intricate level design we had before is not here either. Add to this the silly cell shaded graphics and the gatcha inspired character rooster, what you get is a no-go for arena FPS players.

As surprising as it may be, the only "recent" FPS that remotely matches my tastes is CS:GO

Quoting: LachuPlease, remember Unreal Tournament was Open Source, but it do not apply to assets. Thanks to that it was possible to provide modified game engine, with enhancement multiplayer.
Only the SDK and the renderers are open source. UTPG and OldUnreal got access to source code with agreement from Epic but don't have any right to redistribute it.

Crysis 2 & 3 Remastered finally land on Steam, work great on Steam Deck

There is no EA requirement because it's not EA anymore.
I've played through the first remastered and it mostly ran nicely. Honestly, the claim that it is a downgrade is debatable, and if you've never played it you won't even notice. It is a must play.

Dunno why they're backtracking so heavily here. They could've made a helluva marketing campaign over this little issue.

Not really, unless you pass through a graphics card.
Yeah but now that it is using dxvk it should be better
I would rather say that it may be better, as performance will be bottlenecked by the Virtual Machine itself, running a whole virtualized system is more CPU intensive than Wine and added to the DXVK translation layer which obviously uses CPU time too, the whole thing won't compete with Proton any time soon.

On the other hand, I'd be really curious to see benchmarks of this (but too lazy to run them myself... Liam?)
