Why always online? Skate, Skate 2 and Skate 3 were perfectly fun offline. I don't understand

Happy Birthday! This is probably the only site I make sure to perpetually have open. Appreciate the work you do and the community here.
THE FINALS to get new kernel-based anti-cheat, devs say it will still work on Linux, SteamOS, Steam Deck

Man, that's sad to hear. Cheating has gotten to such a ridiculous level. The Finals was genuine good fun too, and a very aim-intensive game which is pretty rare since Quake etc died out.
I wonder if PlaysafeID will be considered in the future, or at least something similar. Not sure if it's been covered in any articles previously, but it seems like the best (NOT perfect) solution that could handle both cheating AND linux compatibility. That or server side anticheat, but I'm not convinced that will help as much as it's hyped up to.
Be really great if cheaters could just stop cheating though.
COD: WWII is no longer playable on PC at all now due to RCEs, meaning every last call of duty is impossible to safely run on linux without a custom launcher (like plutonium or the BO3 one).
CS2 is of course great, but it's also pretty cheater filled and I sometimes like faster paced games. Hero shooters seem to have it pretty good, but tac FPS and arena shooter fans seems to be out of luck. As much as I hate EA, battlefield is one of my favourite series and now only BF4 is playable (which is great don't get me wrong). I feel like every time I find a shooter I enjoy playing, it gets blocked again. RIP

£2.50 extra a month isn't ideal, but I'm not super bummed to be honest. I think I'm on the classic plan, can't even remember now.
Honestly it probably saves me a lot of money nowadays as it's broken me out of the habit of buying games so frequently in a weird way. Plus there's almost always at least one game per month from my wishlist.
As a side note, fairly frequently I own a game already and usually I hand the keys out to my buddies but is there any kind of GamingOnLinux giveaway I could pass them onto?

Ahh is this why the FPS counter quadrupled in size the past few days?
One thing I'd really love is a keyboard AND Steam Overlay shortcut to quickly enable/disable it. I'm trying to get out of the habit of paying too much attention to FPS, but it's handy to have when problems arise

Awesome! Been looking for a nucleus coop alternative for many years now. Don't actually have a TV PC anymore, but planning on getting one again soon. This will be great even for games like COD, the built in splitscreen is awful and restricted depending on which game. Exciting!

I played this many years ago, I think it came with some distro at the time. It was cool enough then, but I might actually revisit it - not as much a fan of minecraft these days but it sounds like there's so many cool actual new ideas and QoL features in VoxelLibre to try out. Is there any multiplayer yet?

Haha no way i'd given up on this ever coming to linux, they said they wanted to support it years ago now and I thought it seemed like a really cool idea of a game. Excited to finally try it, but I've been following it the whole time and it seems completely dead
