Good to hear - anyone know if haptic feedback/adaptive triggers works on any games?

Don't own a PS5, but thinking of getting one of these controllers if Steam Controller 2: Electric Boogaloo doesn't rear it's head any time soon.

iFixit begin offering Steam Deck SSD upgrades

At the moment I've actually not come too close to filling up the 256GB as it is, but I have been a bit more cautious and so far still only been playing some smaller indie games. I think eventually I'll upgrade to 1TB or 2TB, but think I'd be a tad worried about damaging the deck while doing the upgrade. Interested to see if others will be upgrading it

10 years ago Steam released for Linux

Amazing to see how much gaming on linux has grown since then.
I've used linux all my life that I remember; playing BZFlag as a kid blew my mind. Then got hugely into Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory which worked amazing on linux, and then got really into linux gaming with the Live Linux Gamers distro. It was a live distro that came with maybe 10-20 games preinstalled (still playing Urban Terror today!). Made a few other stops along the way before I finally joined steam in 2014.

So many hours spent troubleshooting games, getting them to work under linux or solving weird issues. It's mindblowing to me these days that you just click install on regular ol steam and then click play, and boom - it's working. It's the case with so, so many games that I'm used to it now. Never thought plug & play would become the norm but I'm so happy it has.

Thanks for 10 years steam!

Steam and Steam Deck Beta add the ability to move the on-screen keyboard

Quoting: neffoI the only person who has Steam Big Picture running very slowly (like 10 fps) on Desktop Linux ... though it's fine in games though?
Yep, I'm getting the same. I switched from Ubuntu to Nobara recently so it might've been that, but the non-beta BPM didn't have performance issues on Nobara, and the beta was fine under Ubuntu. Honestly just assumed it was my issue, as my GPU died and I messily reinstalled my system at the same time.

System Shock remake due to release in March

Had this on my wishlist since maybe 2016 after missing out on the kickstarter, and got gifted a preorder of it two years ago. Pretty excited for release! Hope it lives up to expectations. Can't wait to be too scared to play.

Humble Choice for January 2023 has DOOM Eternal, a good month for Steam Deck
4 Jan 2023 at 3:52 pm UTC

Got Eternal the first sale after release, and unfortunately I happened to buy OlliOlli World during the winter sale last week, but the rest of them look interesting enough. Also comes with a 60% off voucher for both DLCs within humble store, but I think it's only maybe £0.20 cheaper than buying it on steam - and more expensive than getting the Year One Pass.

Honestly most of the headliners I either own or am not interested in with Humble Choice, but helps me to find new indies. Often I'll enjoy a game from it that I would not have bought otherwise.

Still salty they dropped any linux builds and support a little while back though. I've seen some people have Humble Games Collection working under Linux but I am yet to get any progress with that myself.

My game of the year 2022 is the Steam Deck
20 Dec 2022 at 6:35 pm UTC

My game of the year is honestly Dying Light 2. Came out at the perfect time for me and resonated with me.

I've spent most of the rest of the year (re?)discovering many indies on my deck. While I prefer the desktop experience especially for bigger games, the deck has really brought me a new love for short, immersive indies. Katana Zero is likely my favourite so far.

Anyone got any recommendations for short-ish indies on the deck? Have been trying to get through my backlog, but too easy to get addicted to endless roguelikes at the moment.

Valve hit a home run with the first year of Steam Deck

Very happy with my deck, and so, so excited for a Steam Controller 2. I've been using the deck to get through my backlog of games - while it can handle the heavier games, I have so many short indies that I'm loving playing through at the moment. Florence, Inmost, Disc room and Katana Zero have been my highlights on it so far.

AMD Radeon RX 7000 launched today for the select few able to beat the crowds

Received mine yesterday and installed it last night, coming from a 2080 Super I got second hand earlier this year (had a terrible, terrible cooler too). So happy with the 7900XTX so far, though only had time for a few games. Plug & play for the most part, though Darktide is borked for me at the moment.

I also got mine through OCUK, sorry to hear yours won't be arriving for a while! Will you be doing a review of it when you receive it?
