Valve attempt to get the New York lootbox lawsuit dismissed as "People enjoy surprises"

Fuck your surprises, Valve. But yeah, it shouldn't be only directed at loot boxes. It should be a much more broad regulation and both physically and digitally too. Just cause shit has been a certain way before, doesn't make it right now.

Plus for physical card packs, they could easily just number the packs in a series. So that way you don't buy duplicates. Though they'd still find a way to create some artificial scarcity, unless that shit somehow gets banned as well.

At least the graphics aren't in the "uncanny valley" like inZOI's can be at times. Though some of the characters do look weird still. lol

Discord joke that it's The Year of the Linux Desktop

One could also argue the same thing with Apple and macOS. As at the start, Apple were touting the open source origins of Mac OS X.
Not really the same. Apple butchered Darwin, sure (never mind CUPS, OpenGL support, and probably others), but it never covered anywhere close to what was under AOSP. All Apple cared about with Darwin marketing was attracting whatever Unix fans they could.
My bad, I just remember them being all like "*BSD this" and "open source that" with Mac OS X and software. I also remember there being a thing with the Yellow Dog Linux people at the Apple Store near me too. I was really surprised about that, even back then.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyMy year of the Linux desktop was somewhere around 2000, I can't remember exactly. The Linux desktop sucked really hard back then, but so did Windows 98, so.
That would be more in line with my opinion. I'd say the year when a normal Linux desktop as daily driver was viable. I switched in 2002 and it was viable for a least a little while before that.
I'm gonna split the difference with you guys and say 2001, cause that's when I started using Linux regularly for the first time. I dual-booted, but I did everything but gaming (and a few other things) in Linux.

Imagine Baby Shark, for example, had been stuck in a significant chunk of all films, TV programs and computer games for 75 years because it's "funny." How would you feel the next time you heard Baby Shark?
I had to Google Baby Shark. I guess this is like how my one friend hates "DJ Airhorn" or whatever. lol

PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 devs battling "AI slop code pull requests"

Quoting: PlayingOnLinuxphoneThat idea exists for decades and all times it was tried ended up in banning potential serious developers. I mean, just give a look how Reddit moderators do their job. We all heard about the horror stories of people getting banned for non harmful content if it just contains a minimum amount of critics to a topic. If I can ban you in the network, you are banned everywhere, not just on my project, even if I did not ban you for AI usage, I just need to tell you used AI.

Not even speaking about situations like Github writing "co-authored by Copilot" on non LLM PRs.

The mind behind this idea is great and I would support it, but the real world situation just shows that it harms more than it actually helps. The FOSS-community needs to think about a better solution.
That's fine and all, but the horrors of moderation even before AI tended to pale in comparison to the horrors of no moderation.
But anarchy! We must have chaos and burn it all to the ground. It's the only true path to liberation! 🔥 (I'm just kidding, anarchists of GOL. lol)
