Cheese Talks: More Cross-platform Humble Bundle Details Than You Ever Wanted To Know!

I was going to Tweet to you, but I guess posting here is just as good: An excellent article in general, sums it all up quite nicely.
It was also very interesting to read more about the porting process. I always was curious about how it goes and why.

It's a shame that we can still only speculate on many issues concerning the current HiB, especially about the reduced number of sales.
I suppose we'd need some data directly from the users if we're to ever be able to find out the true reasons why it happened...

From a technical standpoint, besides an occasional typo and missing word, only one thing bugs me some: the pie doesn't have any associated numerical value.

Other than that, a very good read. Keep em coming.

Edit: Oh, and Happy New Year!

THQ looking at possible Linux ports

Venn from LinuxGameCast also retweeted this. Now Phoronix reported on it as well. I guess everyone's jumping on the bandwagon...
Personally I think it's way too soon to get excited about this. However it is definitely something worth keeping an eye on.
I just hope the Internet doesn't overreact like it has a tendency to do - especially if nothing comes of it. :(

gogonlinux client to help bring gog games to Linux
9 Dec 2012 at 1:47 pm UTC

I don't understand why didn't they just help get PlayOnLinux upgraded instead of making a completely new client.
Don't want to sound rude or anything, but like I really needed yet another application besides POL, winetricks, CrossOver, whatever. :(

I would like to know what's their plan in case the Kickstarter doesn't reach the funding goal. Will they still pursue to finish the game and how? Will they re-think some aspect of the game? What will they change?

Humble Indie Bundle 6!
19 Sep 2012 at 12:50 pm UTC

I would definitely get it for SPAZ and maybe Torchlight... if I could, that is. My last free-spending money went to the FTL devs... :(
Then again, it has only just started. Not sure my situation will change, but we'll see.

Project Eternity may get a Linux version!

Better than nothing? Really guys? This is ridiculous and you know it.

We've already had four (and more) huge games funded via Kickstarter and they all included Linux support either as soon as people asked for it or put it as a stretch goal close to Mac support. And they usually asked for about 5%-10% more funding to include that.
What Obsidian did is dick move: They got an enormous amount of money, they said they'll consider cross-platform. They decide to add Mac for an extra 0.5 million (again, no idea what the Hell they need that much for), and then they had the nerve to go and put Linux support for double the funding they asked for! What, do they need to buy a licence or something...? Not only that, but it turns out they tied supporting the platform with adding a new faction, another class and a new in-game companion. So the question is 'What does the money I'm giving for Linux support have to do with this extra content?'

So yeah, thanks but no thanks. Sometimes you just have to put the foot down and simply say 'No, I will not allow to be treated this way. Change it, than we'll see'
