That said though, I think they are on the edge of a very thin line at times. It might happen one day that they'll release something with features intentionally missing in order to be added in through DLC. Luckily that hasn't happened yet and I hope they don't get too greedy. But as of now, it's really hard to fault them.

Quoting: Mountain ManI agree. Each major DLC offers a lot, easily 100 hours or so for each - which is very good value for money if you ask me. The extra portraits and units stuff is purely aesthetic and I don't bother with it. If you're not a crazy addict like myself, then there's no point in the DLC since each one comes with free updates anyway.Quoting: GuestSad they only make their "grand strategy games" otherwise I might be interested. That and their DLC ridiculousness.Actually, the DLC isn't that ridiculous. Yes, they release a lot of DLC for Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV, but their expansions always offer a substantial amount of new content and features, plus new content and features get added to the base game for free as part of a corresponding patch. Furthermore, the base games offer a complete experience in and of themselves, so the DLC isn't required content allowing you to pick and choose only what you're actually interested in.
As far as I'm concerned, Paradox is one of the few companies to do DLC right.

Football has to be one of the most boring sports in existence. This looks like it remedies that though :D

Yeah, I agree they don't always feel as complete as when a couple of expansions come out, but I had great experiences with EU4 and Victoria II - being the most recent PDS games I bought at launch. EU4 is actually the only game in recent memory which I reordered, and I never regretted it.
Can't speak for Magicka since I don't own it, but that's not actually developed by them anyway, only published.
Either way, I'm going to wait for launch and see how the reviews are. It's a new IP so I see it as a risky thing to preorder. If they came along with Victoria III or something though, I'd preorder without a doubt so I could preload it and play the second it's launched :D.

To be fair, I see nothing wrong in breaking that rule for a game put out by a company who arguably has the best Linux track record out there. The chance of getting burned is so minuscule, I think they earned your cash.
But just to be sure you're not going to hell, you should delete your Windows partition just in case :D

Quoting: KeyrockMay? Really? I played the demo that came out a couple months ago and thought the game had potential, but it also needed A LOT more work. I thought this would be a fall game at earliest. I hope they're not pushing this out too early.Yeah, looking at the footage just now, I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully they've polished it up a bit, looked a bit rough. Looks like it could be excellent though, I hope it has a good story.
Transport Fever announced with Linux support, build a massive transport network

Train Fever had a very good base, but there were a lot of niggling issues which prevented it from being really good. If they've taken the feedback from users into account, this should be a very good game :)

Quoting: CimerydWalking simulator mystery type game. That's one of my favourite genres. Doesn't offer much replayability, but first time through is a magic ride.I'd say it leaves room for a second playthrough, just to take a look at it through different eyes and do some of the optional stuff. I left mine installed because I'm planning to at some point. But yeah, I don't see anyone really getting more than two out of this to be honest, but it doesn't make it any less of an excellent game and well worth the price.

Quoting: neowiz73He really should reach out to some of well known porters of Linux Games. I just don't want to see him get frustrated to the point he feels it wasn't worth the effort. I'm sure Ethan Lee or Ryan Gordon could help in this situation.I'm not saying that a lot of these devs even need to take it that far. Like at least someone to give them a hand just to partition a drive or something would be a step forward haha.

I always wonder with these things why the devs never get someone who knows a lot about Linux or uses it regularly to give them a hand? Like most programmers would know at least one, and Linux people usually love to show newcomers stuff. Anyway, would save them a lot of headaches I think and would prevent some of the ragequits we've had in the past
He should go ahead and release it now... Been waiting to play this for so damn long.

I wouldn't put a single penny into something hosted on Fig, it's just the latest confidence trick to come out of Double Fine:

The game itself looks good, but the crowdfunding platform is super shady, lots of small print, based in a tax haven and with lots of intermediaries. I ask anyone considering putting money into this to watch the video.
