Since apparently all the content of Paradox's games reflect their views, then they must also be in favour of religious genocide, cultural assimilation, genocide of indigenous peoples, be followers of every major religion that has existed since the year ~800 concurrently, be fans of both Stalin and Hitler, colonialism, free trade, protectionism, etc.
Political correctness gone mad, something has to be done about these Marxist loons.

One thing I'm curious about is whether they will have the fallacy of democracy and capitalism being one and the same, or whether they will allow for more interesting systems like authoritarian capitalism (ie. Singapore) or democratic socialism (Scandinavian model). That would probably be a dealbreaker for me.

This looks like the exact game I would develop if I could actually develop games. We'll see how well it's implemented, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and buy day-1 because I've always wanted a 21st century Paradox-esque game that focuses almost entirely on politics.
Quoting: ArehandoroNo anarchism? There wouldn't be ANY gameplay if there was anarchism. Just sit back and watch your lack of state progress on its own and, I'd argue, eventually re-develop itself into a state, but that's another topic :P.

Is ChromeOS counted as Linux? Might explain why.
Finally, pornhub (NSFW obviously), a popular porn website has seen a 14% increase in traffic from Linux in the space of a year.A lot of single Linux users out there :P.

I migrated back to Plasma after getting away from it since the earlier Plasma 5 releases were insanely unstable. It's always been my favorite DE, feels the most polished.

I have to say, I never got what all the fuss is with these "exploration" orientated games. I get the idea of exploration in some sort of open world game like Skyrim or the like, but considering there's not much to do or interact with in these cases, it seems besides the point. Sort of like walking around a 3D painting.
That said, I like the idea of emote communication. They should implement something like that in games like ARK where the immersion is completely ruined by people repeating "dank memes" or whatever terrible music they have on in the background.

I honestly don't get the point of buying games before release.

Quoting: VdoPOnly way you can give them money is by buying the games for Linux.Quoting: liamdaweShit I didnt know that. Can i somehow donate them something or does a steam forum post help?Quoting: EikeThat will not pay Feral, it's as simple as that.Quoting: VdoPI just bought a deus ex box in a local market to support their linux port. I should just wait for the release and then activate and play, to make it count as a "linux sale" right?I did the same with Pillars of Eternity, but I was told that all box sells probably count as Windows sale. Maybe a Feral guy drops in and knows more.

'Noob Squad' is a perfect example of why Valve need to pay more attention to their own store

I'm kind of puzzled by some of the bad reaction to this. With the "don't but it" crowd, that's kind of part of the point of this site - Liam is playing a shit game in this case so you don't have to (tm).
I also disagree with the "who cares? there's refunds" view. While refunds are a nice option, quality control is important. It's the reason Nintendo (despite what some would consider very aggressive business practices) did so well in the 90s and Atari became almost non-existent. There's plenty of other places for cheap shovleware or places for people to sell their first stab at making a game - but Steam isn't that place. I think Valve already do a pretty good job at giving very small developers a decent shot (games like Stardew Valley come to mind) but there's no need to publish stuff which borders on exploitative, all that does is crowd out the well intentioned and talented indie developers.
As for Valve doing nothing for Linux gaming... Come on guys. Say what you will about Valve, about it being a huge multinational who uses the same tax loopholes as Apple, Amazon et. al. but that kind of argument by association doesn't fly. It's a reality that we have many of the games we do because Linux is a platform on Steam (the largest digital distribution platform) and Valve pushed a lot for Vulkan development and created things like VOGL.

This looks worse than some of the Digital Homicide games. Unless this is them using yet another alias to create asset-bought shovleware that pollutes the store.

InXile Entertainment announced Wasteland 3, will use crowdfunding on fig
29 Sep 2016 at 5:02 pm UTC
On top of that, to those argueing that publishers "limit creative vision" - I have three points on that:
1) Pitching something like an oldschool RPG to a publisher would not be a hard sell these days. There's plenty of success stories.
2) There's smaller, less corporate publishers who don't have such constrictive business practices. Paradox and Devolver are two examples which come to mind.
3) Crowdfunding involves just as much (maybe more?) limiting of creative vision. You have to add pointless multiplayer modes to satisfy those people who demand it, add crafting because people want that for no reason, add silly in-game backer reward rubbish (names on tombstones, that kind of thing and overall listen to thousands of little voices each wanting different things, sort of like a thousand little publishers. I've played plenty of games now which have felt watered-down because they had to pander to this sort of audience, which ironically probably would have liked the game more if they'd left the devs to their own devices.

Quoting: BeamboomSo they didn't even make enough money on Wasteland 2 to finance the development of this one? How was any software house able to produce anything before the crowdfunding services arrived? How could commercial software exist in the pre-crowdfund era?I agree with everything there. Crowdfunding is a great idea, giving opportunities for those who otherwise wouldn't have had it to create some great stuff. On the other hand, you have developers who simply see it a means to get pre-order money waaaay in advance under the guise of "helping the little guys" - I would hardly consider inXile to be a small indie studio in dire need of cash these days...
This crowdfunding epidemic has really gotten out of hand. This is just moving risk out of the company and over to the customers. And that, in turn, leads to laziness.
