I have to say, if this does turn out to be the new Hitman, I'm not supporting it. Ignoring the "I hate always-online DRM" argument, I have satellite internet. It's naturally a bit spotty, and some things just don't work, probably thanks to the latency. I'm not going to pay for a gimped version of the game, seeing as how progression seems to be locked if you play offline. Hitman would be the perfect game for me if it weren't for that major decision.
On a lighter note, here's one of the branches.

Quoting: ajgpI would add Paradox to that list as well, everygame they promised would have a linux release has had one (Day-1 as well)Thanks for the reminder that they're also pretty good for ports! I forgot about them because I only have a couple of games that they've had a hand in (Cities: Skylines being one of them).
Quoting: Comandante oardoThe Linux port of Batman Arkham Knight was made by Feral... and they, not Warner, cancelled the game.Going to not go to the "It was out of Feral's hands" thing because others have and, TBH, I don't care about it. My thing is that I will never, under any circumstance, buy a game on the promise that it will have Linux support. Given Feral's track record of delivering almost every time, with Arkham Knight being the only exception I know of, I'm good with getting excited to see their name on a port announcement. But I'm never buying the game until it's done, even though they tend to be good for it. I'm giving my money for the finished product, not the promise of one.
Quoting: wintermuteThe most plausible explanation I've heard (it was a forum post I think) was that from the point where they launched the alpha they were stuck with the major version of CryEngine they were on at the time, too much effort to upgrade and too much risk to release schedules. That version of CryEngine doesn't and won't ever support Linux (or Mac) well enough to release the game. If this is the scenario then there'll almost certainly never be a Linux version unless there's some sort of future remastered version to make it worth their while to upgrade the engine. Possibly someone like VP could do a wrapper style port (and they brought Deep Silver on as a publisher, who have history with VP) but my impressions from following the progress of the Windows version is that it performs pretty badly already and any such port might therefore be unplayable.Sad news all-round there. Windows users have bad performance (But it is Beta, so it's not like they can't fix it before release), Mac and Linux users can't play at all (Possibly in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath), and the devs possibly got themselves stuck in a position where making the port possible is apparently more trouble than it's worth despite their initial goal being to make it happen.

My question is "why"? What happened to make them cut out support like this? Did they, as has been seen with some game relatively recently that escapes me right now, use Windows-exclusive middleware and underestimate the cost of converting to something not exclusive? Did they, like with (IIRC) Skullgirls, have someone porting it for free and expect that they could continue like that forever and had no backup? Did a neighbor's dog come in and chew up their homework, that homework just so happening to be the code for the Mac and Linux ports?
I'm glad they're at least letting people know in some way and that they seem to be good on refunding Mac/Linux backers, but I'm really getting annoyed with how common this situation is. In the past few hours, GoL has covered two games in the same boat. Go back a bit and we've got Killing Floor 2, Skullgirls (Now resolved, but it was in limbo for a long time), Killing Room, and just too many others. It's gotten to the point where I've almost stopped caring for announcements of Linux ports from anyone that isn't Feral, Aspyr, or Ethan Lee because it's almost inevitable that the Linux port gets majorly delayed or canceled outright.

Quoting: ajgpHowever to promise a release platform then on a crowdfunding site in order to ellicit pledges only to pull that from the lineup furter down the line is appalling behaviour in my opinion. This is my second main reason for not supporting Kickstarter projects (the first being that the entire thing might never happen even if fully funded). It and my experience with Witcher 2 are also why I don't buy already-released games that have a promise of coming to Linux.

'Motorsport Manager' won't get a Linux version until later, despite it releasing with a SteamOS icon (updated)

Quoting: liamdaweI think they mean to use the Steam flagging feature, not the reviews. Flag it as broken (Not downloading) and tell them it has the Linux icon, but Linux isn't yet supported.Quoting: elbuglione3 simple steps:About point 2- You can't do a review if you haven't even loaded the game.
1- Report Bug (missing OS support)
2- Negative Análisis (misleading advertising)
3- Refund

Quoting: GuestDoes Alt+Tab even work on Linux? I've never had any luck using Alt+Tab with full screen games so I stopped even trying. I guess I'll give it a shot with a few other games and see if it works there, may have been an issue with X-COM and X-COM2.I've had a couple games somehow stop me from using it, but the vast majority work just fine for me. What games have you been having that problem with?
The Steam store update will require developers to use actual screenshots of the game, finally

I love how they used their own game as an example of doing it wrong. "We know this is a problem that we aren't exempt from, and we will be applying these rules to ourselves as well."

As for "Is it useful outside of Steam", I find it to be an amazing Gamecube emulator controller, along with playing pretty much anything else where a controller is a great option. Been lately playing Shovel Knight from GOG by adding it to Steam and customizing the game-specific controller settings and it's working amazingly. If you don't want to add the game to Steam, you're going to have to set the desktop controller settings to the way you want it for Shovel Knight, which isn't a great idea if you have other things you want to use the controller for where that config doesn't work. Or use the workarounds to not use Steam at all.

Quoting: ZeloxThat skin looks really nice. I would probably get a steam controller in the future. My big gripe with the Steam Controller is that Valve made it so that it pretty much requires Steam to be running for it to work. There are workarounds [External Link], but I'm not sure how well they work, since I tend to just open Steam when I want to use my controller anyway.
*Looks at his xbox controller* - When will you die?
But is the steam controller even useful outside of steam?
Or is it built to steam?
And can I still get the same value if I use it outside of steam?
Im not saying Im not using steam, but I have been getting less active and prefer sites like GoG.

Uhh... Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing? :P
I hope it's the new Deus Ex or Mad Max, like others here are saying. Having to pick which one I'd want more, it'd be Mad Max. Dat car destruction gameplay.

I hope this ends up being like Prison Architect's "Escape a Prison" mode: You build a level to be as good as possible at preventing the player from doing the objective (without making it impossible), then challenge them or yourself to do the objective. A level editor where your design not only affects the player, but how many and what kinds of NPCs you get, where they go, etc.
If not, it still sounds like a cool game on its own. I look forward to getting it.
