Quoting: Segata SanshiroTrying to decide whether to play this, Book of Unwritten Tales or The Raven next. Any suggestions?
Journey down is more or less average game.

BoUT is just... hilarious. i don't like p'n'c games at all. so, i ended up buying it in my support nordic games initiative and when i started playing it to register as linux user... i couldn't stop until the end. jokes are so well written. not to mention ending is total FTW!!!! in every other p'n'c game i get bored in hour or so

Metro Redux FPS Games Have A New Overview Video, On Linux Later This Year
9 Aug 2014 at 1:41 pm UTC

Quoting: AntaliusI'm excited for this as I haven't played either but heard good impressions about both. A bit disappointed for the Linux version delay but somewhat comprehensive considering the relative small number of the dev team and reported hardships they had to face just to put the games out so far (http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/05/15/4a-games-working-conditions/ [External Link].
i bought it on their linux support, even though i don't like the game. even preordered redux collection on same reason, but i doubt i'll bother downloading them

still, playing on "bad conditions" sympathy card? kinda low if you ask me, it is not like anyone forced them into working on this game. especially when this video doesn't agree with description

seems like every indie out there

Borderlands: The Pre-sequel Looks Like It May Come To Linux (UPDATED)
9 Aug 2014 at 9:17 am UTC

Quoting: lavejust was looking at the comments out of curiousity and actually complete page1 was "yay linux" or "dont be so ignorant, linux yay!"
but maybe its just you people that try to counter them :D
like old saying goes... don't judge book by its cover. it starts ok, at page 3 or so it becomes borderline insane. ?next? gen this and ?next? gen that

as far as i get it, article was renamed in something like "Borderlands is adding another platform" (later renamed again), where both parties jumped to conclusion that if platform is not theirs, they need to express some anger towards the platform being added

Quoting: vultureok, comments on that site are just... lol. so many disappointed ?next? gen gamers.

downright funny to see each and every one pointing out ?next? gen.
Save yourself, do what I've decided to do and never go to that site again. Don't read the comments, it's a lot like megagames, but with moderated comments. No less idiotic comments though. "It's not "next gen" if it's not on a bloody stinking console, it's just not good enough, linux? wtf is that?"

I'm still waiting for Witcher 3 (pleased with the Witcher 2 port so far, I seem to get good performance out of it where others seem not to) and Shogun 2 Total War. Plus two Kickstarters, The Mandate and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
and be deprived of my "daily joke with popcorn on the ready" read? :) even in my times as console gamer i found most of those people as proof people can be insane (and funny) without borders. worst thing was their "not exclusive=not good/exclusive=awesome" logic. game can only be as good as developer made it to be, exclusive or not.

but, right now they added this ?next? gen delusion to the mix?... sheeesh and lol. insanity=limitless (note to my self... need more popcorn)

Quoting: EKRboiBorderland: The Pre-Sequal for Linux in the fall CONFIRMED by 2K! :woot:

"Take-Two Interactive's first leaked the news with their recently released financials, which listed Linux as a platform for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. We've reached out to 2K, and they have confirmed that it will indeed be headed to Linux this fall."

Article from IGN [External Link]
ok, comments on that site are just... lol. so many disappointed ?next? gen gamers.

downright funny to see each and every one pointing out ?next? gen. except their next gen was obsolete 6 months before release. this console gen is probably worst in history by miles as it is the first gen that brings nothing to the table. it's cheap "build it your self PC from parts taken out of basement junk". i was console gamer my self and when i saw where it leads... time to sell everything and move on pc

The Team Behind PlayOnLinux & PlayOnMac Reveals PortMyApps (UPDATED)

Quoting: n30p1r4t3I never thought the response to this would be so negative. While a native port would be great, in some cases the studio is either too small, or not that well off financially enough to support a native port either in house or via third party.

The way I see this is a tool for games/apps that would never see a linux release to get ported.

For example, Skyrim. Skyrim will probably never see a native release until the OpenMW team decides to port it 50 years from now, but it works amazingly well in a wineskin on OS X.
and so it works in wine if you choose so. which is kind of good publicity. you can run skyrim even though there is no skyrim for linux. in this case, running slower doesn't mean much

but, what happens when official skyrim is crappy? in that case, it is better no port at all than deficient port. and if the worst comes and lets say lots of titles get ported like this. what would that say about linux gaming? crappy performance, weak support... yea, definitely good reason why to use linux /*sarcasm*/

i really hope people POL people won't support linux, same way as wineskin doesn't. or at least people keep list of games and apps ported like this, so that list can at least be boycotted in big scale

This tool is noway made to discorage use of native ports. In fact, you cannot use it port games because it is limited 50Mo.
that is something that makes sense and fixes the meaning twarted by article

i don't mind having option of running wine. but, this is like death by 1000 cuts for native ports and god knows how many future developments.

uninstalling POL is 1st on my list same as never buying one title made in this way is 2nd

Feral Interactive Are Teasing New Linux Games UPDATED

Quoting: GuestPleaaaaase do not answer to the troll…
as sad as it is, that's wrong. it's better flooring them on the spot. you only need to look how much bad publicity has fallen on linux community since few ppl took their anger against CDP. right now every windows fan is posting happily how linux gamers are bunch of spoiled brats using CDP as example and as a reason why games should not be ported (go on steam and watch for proof). comments like this create public FUD and to make sad story even more sad, usual person deciding if they should port or not will simply create opinion on what he reads on net.

right now as it is (and as sad as it is), linux is at the end of the food chain being at mercy of developers and publishers if they will provide ports or not. seeing few bad actions like CDP will definitely pose question "perfect port is too expensive, so why bother?". sadly, human mind is wired to remember bad things more than good, now go figure

if you need more proof, just do web search how many neutral gaming news site picked up news about W2/linux reception, now try finding one that would report on Aspyr being happy. you'll find sh1tload of 1st and zero to none of 2nd. venting in public while being at mercy is worst possible thing linux gaming can afford right now

p.s. before i get accused of being some crazed CDP fan making excuse for them. NO I AM NOT!!!
- are non working ports ok? NO.
- is this fine with me? NO. it just is what it is and when having choice between nothing and few with some bad, i'll take later on every occasion. hey, i'll gladly pay right now just for hope that next time treatment will be better since market was not so bad (not 2nd time, though. 1 time offer only for each developer)
- was CDP right? NO, NO, NO and NO, but linux community could handle it better and more mature. aka. civilized site with collection of good and bad ports/developers for linux. Update: wiki on how to solve problems or make it perform better on various distros per game would also be a nice touch speaking in favour of linux gaming since it would take large part of Q&A strain from developers, making it way more acceptable in process especially if developers would find out about it and take part (example: github for W2). Having blacklisted uncivilized linux gamers on same site wouldn't hurt either
