Testing The Talos Principle OpenGL vs Vulkan again, now that Valve have fixed the Steam Overlay
16 Apr 2016 at 10:28 am UTC

If by changing the resolution there's not much difference, then it should be a CPU botteneck.
Well, vulkan is supposed to be way less CPU dependent, as much as an i3 would give more or less the same results as an i7 on CPU demanding games.
But still Talos isnt really CPU demanding and show that 'lack' of differences between 1k and 4k, I don't have any idea and i'm wondering too.

They are indies, probably a small crew like 10 people, and there's probably not a single one of them using GNU/Linux as a gaming plateform.
Much speculation, but I think it is understandable from a practical point of view, even if it does not excuse it.

I'm much more sad about the fact that, indeed, they do not use GNU/Linux as their primary plateform.
A lot of people have that stupid idea that 'windows is the standard plateform because it is the more widespread plateform', using this simple idea to legitimate things, like imposing non-free software in schools and education in general...
I don't have to explain to you why it is stupid, and why GNU/Linux is, by natural right, the standard plateform.
This last idea have to be understood by people, and very firstly for us that game on GNU/Linux, it has to be understood by game developers.
I think being pragmatic lead people to the less wrong, that lead's to no change, because companys like microsoft actually expect people to act pragmatically.

I don't get it. Isn't the game still in early access ?
Shouldn't they focus on finishing it before starting to work on additional content ?

I must have misunderstood something somewhere ...

20 Mar 2016 at 6:23 pm UTC

Quoting: nullzeroOpen data request:

Hey, are there any chances to open up the data, at least last year's one for 3rd parties to do some data analysis?

Just read steamboiler's "Three kinds of linux gamer" post where their linux gamer's survey data was used to build clusters of similiar linux gaming patterns.

I wonder what is more interesting in life than sociology :D

Vulkan at GDC videos now up, with Valve talking about porting Source 2 to Vulkan

'Who would have thought making it open source would bring in people to help eh?'
Yeah, who ... :D
Sad they do not release it with copyleft. If vulkan get to replace DX, their licence would allow brand like nvidia to make some closed source add-on that would work only on their hardware or just better on it, just to screw up competition as they do now.
