Quoting: m2mg2After the first run, between scenes and saves?
The first run is the graphics driver compiling and caching shaders to optimise the game experience and avoid in level stutters. After the first run the Nvidia cache in the driver should mean much faster loading (exact time depends on your hardware) updating the drivers will require the cache to be rebuilt but apart from that it should be a one shot deal.

As mentioned earlier in this thread Mesa doesn't have caching support yet so you have a longer load every time but that will go away once Mesa impliment the caching mechanism in the future.

Quoting: JahimselfWell I'm totally disappointed. 40fps average on normal settings, with anisotropic x2 (i'm used to minest x8 or x16 and at least x2 msaa).
Sorry to hear that. I have one suggestion don't use MSAA etc use the Deus Ex specific anti aliasing option (I can't recall its name right now) it makes a huge impact on the visuals and has a very small impact on the fps compared to other anti aliasing allowing you to turn other options to higher settings.

This works on Windows and Linux in the same way.

Quoting: Comandante oardoAbout performance, I found a very good benchmark on Techspot [External Link]...
Thanks for that. I could maybe get away with my GTX760 in Windows (around 30-frames per second on average with medium settings), but it would probably be futile to attempt to play this in Linux with the DirectX-to-OpenGL performance hit. Well, maybe on low settings, but then would the game be too ugly to be enjoyable?
If you use the special anti aliasing settings the game looks pretty great even on the lower settings / 720p. I've played a few hours on a system similar to yours but I know people's personal preferences will vary all I can say was as a DX fan playing the RC build at home on Linux I had fun :)

Quoting: dubigrasuWell, I'm not quite convinced, but since my knowledge is null about game development I'll go with that. Thank you (and thanks for all your ports btw).
All I can say is it's the rule we've followed for 20 years now :)

Quoting: zebHowever, disk usage is only 16 GB. Cache validation is successful. Could it be a Steam issue?
Quoting: WorMzyThat's the same size as my Deus Ex download, so looks like that might be the problem! I'll update my ticket with the information requested.
Thanks with your info I think I've fixed that for you and everyone else with the same setup :) Just restart the Steam client and you should get a ~30GB download :)

Quoting: dubigrasuI wonder why initially Feral avoided answering if Vulkan is used or not for this title.
Was it a Vulkan version in the works and it didn't pan out?
We never discuss technical details before release. It's the same for every title we aren't hiding anything we just never comment until we're ready.

Quoting: WorMzyUnfortunately it doesn't launch for me, instant segfault after the config screen. Doesn't work on either Arch or Ubuntu 16.04. It looks like the same problem I had with Tomb Raider. :(

I'll try contacting Feral support with my system report and crash dumps.
I have the same issue under Arch 64 and reported to them. Nvidia GTX970, driver 370. Tomb Raider and XCOM2 work fine though.
However, disk usage is only 16 GB. Cache validation is successful. Could it be a Steam issue?
The game is at least 55GB so that sounds like an issue with your Steam account. Make sure you take a screenshot of the version you own in your Steam Client "accounts" area. That will allow us to investigate with Valve.

Sounds like you have something none standard somewhere in your setup as we don't really have any major issues reported on Deus Ex or TR 2013. Hopefully support can investigate.

Quoting: MarkyWhy does the Linux version require 67-70GB when the Windows version only requires 45-55gb?
Anyway, this is absolutely awesome. I can't wait to get this game.
I suspect that is an error on the Windows min spec. The game on Windows is ~55GB minimum with no DLC installed but with the DLC is just over 70GB looking at the data depots.

Quoting: dlfAnyone else having trouble downloading it due to a recent steam (beta?) update?
Please be aware that there is currently an issue with the Steam beta client on Linux that may prevent you from downloading, installing and updating games. If you get a ‘disk write error’ when updating a game, you’ll have to opt out of the client to resolve this issue.
