Imagination GPUs now support OpenGL 4.6 thanks to Zink

I want imagination to make PowerVR gpus for computers like before. We need more competition.
PowerVR also powered a little console called Dreamcast from sega, another from sony PsVita, and many phones like Iphone.
Also, imagination claims that have a scalar architecture. If they scale up, hopefully they can make a decent powerful gpu.

The open source NVIDIA NVK driver is coming along well

Quoting: headless_cyborgThis is great but I'm just afraid that Nvidia will one day decide that they don't want this to be a thing and start requiring some kind of signed packages.
I already moved to AMD but I've got one Nvidia laptop around, will definitely give it a try once it's ready.
It already needs a signed firmware in order to boot the graphic card, the same as amd.
It's not 100% opensource graphic stack for the firmware, but it's more flexible than having all the stack propietary.

Quoting: slaapliedjeThe X-Wing games... that's one I'm hoping that allows easier modding, etc.
It seems it's an optimitzed x86 emu with some system calls/minimum libraries to be able to play the original ones.
So, no modding seems. To be able to mod it needs a new engine with mod support.
Moreover it's not open source. I think it's better to play with scummvm if it's compatible, or use doxbox/x86emu/pcem.

Time running out to swap your Minecraft account over to Microsoft
15 May 2023 at 10:43 am UTC Likes: 8

I tried minecraft many years ago, and I was about to buy a copy to support it.
But then Microsoft bought it. I'm glad that I stopped from buying it.
I don't want to support Microsoft.

Does rustcl need some kind of blob for rdna2 (rx6600xt), or it just works like vulkan and opencl?
I played a little bit some time ago, and clinfo hangs (for me), not displays anything, but I think that I installed rocm and I managed to run some benchmark.
GPL it's a bad acronym. I was thinking, but mesa it's on gpl licence already, no?
Great work.

Steam Deck gets a Preview update with STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor improvements
27 Apr 2023 at 6:20 am UTC

Probably it will run on the deck with the low quality. But we have to remind that the work that valve does is for linux in general, not only for the deck. Probably ho has a powerful computer will have no problems.

Also how does the previous one runs on linux? The last time I tried had problems with stuttering one some areas and also had an annoying launcher.

EVERSPACE 2 out now, devs focus on Proton for Linux - Steam Deck optimizations planned

It's a shame... If it were native I would bought it, but with proton... probably on a sale some day (or not).

Couch gaming Linux distro ChimeraOS 41 out now, better AYANEO and Steam Deck support

It's this a good alternative to steamos for the deck?
I'm an arch user on my computer, but I think it's not well adapted for gamepad.
I don't like steamos with a lock file system, forcing the users to use flatpac, and it's not possible (as far as I can see) to change to catalan on kde.
