Unity Editor Updated For Linux, Now Much More Up To Date
20 Nov 2015 at 8:34 pm UTC

@SilverCode - My view is bit different, UE4 can sure munch and crunch complex polygons, for raw power purposes I find myself loving UE4 based games.

On the other hand Unity games like Road Redemption feel like the performance takes a incredible hit and the textures feel Game-cube-ish/Wii-ish (Yeah I know its 1 game.)

At the end of the day I imagine Unity is infinitesimally easier to program, prototype and combine things for small development teams.

Still, knowing a game is UE4 puts like 5 gold stars on it for me. My expectations are elevated.

Road Redemption Released For Linux, It's In Bad Shape

It's not that hard when it comes to Early Access games like Road Redemption.

Here are the choices:
1 ) Take it
2 ) Leave it

At $20 to be part of the development and get a 50% -75% finished product the choice is up to each of us individually.

Road Redemption Released For Linux, It's In Bad Shape

It was doing at least 40 FPS @ 1080p on my 970. Devs published the wrong build.

I get random crashes in co-op races with 2 xbox controllers on linux.

A Four Way Comparison For Alien: Isolation Shows Off The Performance Difference

Well shit, 60 FPS+ I guess all 4 options are acceptable to me.

Sure it brings a grin to my face when I drop $400 - $600 on a new GPU and get ungodly FPS boosts so that I'm outputting 120-260 FPS, but it's not a thousand percent necessary.

Meanwhile PS4 and XBONE are outputting at 30 FPS lol.

Falcon Northwest Is Another Company To Remove Their Steam Machine Offering For Now

Falcon Northwest? I don't know who that is. Subsequently I've gone from maybe caring about who they are to not caring. Doesn't hep them at all. My cash will definitely not enter into their wallets now.

Also, no way to add a second hard drive? LOL. I guess no one told them to pre-format the drive and that said drive will auto-mount to /run/...my-user/my-drive/

Anyways Less is More, 3 Primary Steam Machine Manufacturers is plenty for me.

My Thoughts On SteamOS After Some Time With It

Quoting: adolsonThe reasons I'm not using SteamOS primarily yet are to do with non-gaming needs. When/if they get apps for Netflix and YouTube and streaming from a MediaTomb server built into SteamOS, without having to use the browser or hack around at the system level, then I will use it. Until then, I'm more comfortable in a real Debian environment.
I bet this hack/fix is inadequate but I wanted to pop off a mention of it as it may be relevant.

It seems you can get Flash working in Steam browser, so maybe if you were okay with full-screen on the video instead of a app this would be good.

Actually if someone can confirm that this works and test it maybe GOL would do well to post a howto: as Im sure Netflix is desired by many users.

My Thoughts On SteamOS After Some Time With It

Nice read. Sounds like the smoothie needs a little extra blending to come out smooth, still a bit crunchy.

The audio edit would be cool as Voice Chat on the Headset and SFX on the TV seems like a no-brainer.

It seems like most PC Gamers are X-Console Gamers and have a special hatred for Consoles. And just like Crazy Religious People who are X-Religious it's almost like they have a religion against their religion. So the first impressions seem pretty hostile all over the Steam Forums.

Not only that, but it seems that PC Gamers have large misunderstandings of what Steam Machines are an d are not.

The FPS thing is a annoyance for me aswell when in Big Picture, as I have to go to Desktop Mode to enable it on Arch.

Hopefully developers optimize well because at its current state you generally need to have superior hardware to what you would have on Windows if you want to get equal performance.

Obviously this will change with time, Ark has gone from 15 FPS to 40 FPS since it's launch on my girls Linux Rig so there ya go. Time will help, still unrealistic to expect overnight adoption, the success will be gradual and firm, Steam has always been good about building a cult following.

Age of Fear: The Undead King & Age of Fear 2: The Chaos Lord Now On SteamOS & Linux
15 Nov 2015 at 2:41 am UTC

Everything about this trailer and the game graphics screams low production budget.

When gratuitous Blood or Real Life Magic Spells are the "Special Effects" it just says un-creative and lazy to me.

L4D2 is more scary than this minus the attempt at a demonized chick freak show.

Also that skeleton king looks constipated, some on get him some Smooth Moves tea or laxatives - he looks like he needs to make use of the throne.
Pass.

They need a new Genre because this doesn't meet my concept of what a RTS is.

Major Engine & Content Update To The MMO War Thunder

The air-fights were okayish.

Anyone remember Battle Tankx from N64 - that game was so awesome, if their Tank Play is good it could be a hook, its so hard to find a good Tank games these days.
